NBA Season Opener – Lakers vs Mavericks Betting Preview
2012-11-02

Los Angeles hasn’t won a single preseason game this season, and most people are worried about how they will develop with the new additions: Steve Nash and Dwight Howard. Also, Kobe Bryant is questionable for the season opener with a foot injury.

“I don’t know, I have my doubts,” said Pau Gasol about Bryant’s situation. “I hope we (have him in the lineup). … He hasn’t been able to practice for six days. He’s been off that foot for six days and it’s no joke. I don’t remember the last time that he took that many days off exercising. He might do stuff in the weight room and might do stuff without putting weight on the foot, but it’s a little bit concerning”.

“He hasn’t really talked about it,” Howard said. “I know he’s a little down right now. He seems down because he can’t get out there and practice with us. He’s trying to nurse his foot”.

Not even his coach Mike Brown knows what’s going to happen for the all-star this week.

“It’s a medical issue,” Brown said. “If Gary says he can’t play for medical reasons, he won’t play. … He can’t play if the doctors won’t release him. I don’t know anybody in any professional sport that would play if the doctors don’t release you. So, that has to happen from our medical staff and obviously he has to feel that he can go to and I have to feel that way too. But, the reality of it is, when the doctors clear him and he feels like he can go then I’m good with it”.

For Dallas, their recent moves have Melvin Ely and Chris Douglas-Roberts waived and Delonte West with his first suspension this month.

NFL Sneak Peek – Week 1 – Giants vs. Lions

The Giants and Lions both fell short of the playoffs last year each playing in divisions that earned just one postseason slot. Detroit was alive until the Giants beat them 23-20 in overtime during week 16 in Michigan. It also put the final nail in Lions coach Jim Schwartz’s coffin. Detroit seemed on their way to victory leading 20-13 late in the fourth quarter but New York scored a defense touchdown to tie the game, and kicked a game winning field goal on their second possession of overtime. The Lions final five chances with the ball ended with four punts and a defensive score. New York was limited to just 41 yards on the ground on 21 carries while the Lions scampered for 148 yards. The teams combined for five turnovers.
