A-List Celebrities Choose: Mayweather or Pacquiao?

When it comes to the “Fight of the Century,” everyone has an opinion.

That includes the most modest and reserved among our society. The people who tend to shy away from the limelight and keep their own council. I speak, of course, of A-list celebrities.

The Mayweather-Pacquiao fight has seemingly brought more celebrity opinions than the vaccination “debate.”

In my opinion, we should just scrap the whole bout and give the title to whomever is being backed by the bigger names. After all, I don’t know if I want to live in a world where Brad Pitt is wrong.

So let’s take a look at who’s backing whom and then we can predetermine the winner, saving ourselves a butt-load of PPV fees in the process. (I realize that a lot of these names are severely stretching the definition of “A-list.”)

Mayweather Backers:

  • Sean “Diddy” Combs (famously has a $250,000 bet on the fight with Mark “Marky Mark” Wahlberg)
  • Jamie Foxx
  • Shaq!
  • Tom Brady
  • Bill Maher (hrm, that might count against Mayweather, actually)
  • Oscar de la Hoya (no extra points for being backed by someone with an informed opinion, though)
  • A-Rod
  • Omar Epps
  • Cousin Sal

Pacquiao Backers:

  • Mark Wahlberg
  • Adriana Lima
  • Steph Curry
  • Tim Tebow (and, by extension, God?)
  • Landon Donovan
  • Michael Rapaport
  • “DJ” from Full House

The Verdict: Getting Candace Cameron (aka DJ) was big for Pacquiao with the Full House reunion looming. But Jamie Foxx, Tom Brady, and Omar Epps push Mayweather over the top. “Money” is hereby declared the victor!

Everyone can go back to being productive members of society now, except you celebrities. You just carry on giving opinions on the hottest issues of the day, regardless of acumen.
