Katie Taylor (+120) is the underdog against Amanda Serrano (-152). The Olympic gold medalist won a controversial split decision in Madison Square Garden back in 2022 in what Sports Illustrated named the ‘Fight of the Year’. Fighting over the format
Serrano says that Taylor backed out of an agreement to stage the match in 12 three-minute rounds, like men’s championship fights. Instead, she opted for 10 two-minute rounds, the standard for women’s boxing.
“The Real Deal” had Taylor in trouble in the fifth round of their first fight and stung her right off the bat in the rematch. With an extra minute, she likely believes she could’ve finished the job. However, the undisputed 140-pound champion didn’t want the challenger dictating the terms of the fight as a matter of principle.
