|Milan-San Remo Odds 2023|
|Wout Van Aert||+500||+500||+525|
|Mathieu van der Poel||+900||+900||+900|
|Soren K. Andersen||+1800||+1800||+1800|
There have been changes to the course this season. The 2023 race is unique in that it will not begin in Milan but rather in the town of Abbiategrasso. Following a 183-mile route, the race concludes in San Remo, with over 160 riders expected to compete.
Eddy Merckx holds the record for the most wins in La Primavera, having won the race in 1966, 1967, 1969, 1971, 1972, 1975, and 1976.
Although Merckx was dominant, the Milan-San Remo race has been considered by many as the easiest of the Monument classics to complete but the most challenging to win.
Wout Van Aert
Wout Van Aert has the shortest odds of winning the 2023 Milan-San Remo race compared to any other rider. This is largely due to his previous success in the event, taking home the title in 2020.
Van Aert started the year strong, delivering impressive performances over the past year, contributing to his rising status as the top-ranked member of Team Jumbo-Visma. These factors make him the favorite at +500 odds to win at the 2023 Milan-San Remo race.
If backing Van Aert doesn’t impress you, let;s take a look at the other top contenders for the 2023 Milan-San Remo race, along with their odds of winning:
Mohoric is seen as Van Aert’s primary rival for the top spot on the podium. Despite winning last year’s race, his performance has not been particularly impressive since the start of the year. His odds are +600 to repeat.
Caleb Ewan finished second in the Jean Pierre Monseré Grand Prix one-day race on March 5, making him a strong contender. However, he has not been as dominant as Mathieu van der Poel this year. He has the third-best odds at +720.
Mathieu Van Der Poel
A different cyclist has won each of the past 6 events, making it even more difficult to pick the winner. This race is going to come down to Van Aert against Van der Poel for the title. Van Aert has had to overcome an illness forcing him to miss a couple weeks of training.
While some may think this favors Van der Poel, I’m going the other way. Van Aert will be prepared for the Poggio climb. Back Van Aert at +500 odds to have a victorious return to the podium.
