Olivia Rodrigo’s Star on the Rise
The rise to superstardom has been nothing short of meteoric for Olivia Rodrigo. The young California native proved she could write songs during her brief stunt on the Disney+ TV series “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series”. And she is now enjoying instant success with “Sour”. the album debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in May 2021, and nine months later still remains perched among the top 10.

In addition to her nomination for Album of the Year, Rodrigo is also pegged as a massive -1600 favorite to be named Best New Artist, and is heavy -150 chalk to claim the Grammy for Song of the Year with her hit “Drivers License”.

Rodrigo is unlikely to face much resistance in the battle for the Best New Artist Grammy. Her closest competition is Australian singer and rapper Kid Laroi, who sits second at +650. British singer-songwriter Arlo Parks rounds out the front of the pack at a distant +2000. However, the uber talented teen faces much more experienced rivals on the odds to win Song of the Year.
Billie Eilish a Worthy Second Favorite
Already a seasoned veteran of the business called show at the tender age of 20, Billie Eilish closely trails Rodrigo as a +250 wager to garner Song of the Year honors for “Happier Than Ever”. However, Eilish’s 2021 hit fell short in the bid for the Song of the Year honors at the 2021 MTV Music Video Awards. Indeed, the MTV prize is just one of four awards that Rodrigo has already won with “Drivers License”, including wins at the 2021 Apple Music Awards and the RTHK International Pop Poll Awards.

Eilish also leads a list of nominees that features some of the biggest stars in the music industry, all of whom are chasing Rodrigo in the race to win Album of the Year. Once again, Eilish most closely trails. The seven-time Grammy winner sits as +230 bet to win Album of the Year for the second time in three years with “Happier Than Ever”.
Don’t Overlook Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett
Further down the odds board, the superstar duo of Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett are a highly competitive +350 wager to pull off the upset. Taylor Swift claimed Album of Year honors as the betting favorite on the 2021 Grammy Award Odds. Swift now sports odds as short as +525 at BetOnline to do it again this time around with her latest release, “Evermore”. Lil Nas X rounds out the frontrunners as a +900 bet to take home the hardware.

While all of those performers command the star power necessary to fill a shelf with Grammys, Rodrigo set herself apart from the pack in 2021 in the eyes, ears, and wallets of the record buying public. “Sour” finished a close second to “Dangerous: The Double Album” in the race to be the best selling album of the year despite being released a full four months after country music singer Morgan Wallen’s hit record.
Lady Gaga & Tony Bennett are nominated for 6 #GRAMMYs!
Love For Sale
• Album of the Year
• Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album
• Best Engineered Album (Non-Classical)I Get A Kick Out of You
• Record of the Year
• Best Pop Duo/Group Performance
• Best Music Video pic.twitter.com/33mRkjS8tM— LG (@EnigmaticGaga) November 23, 2021
That makes Rodrigo a safe bet to win the statue in each of the categories that she is nominated. However, sports bettors with a sentimental streak will want to consider a value wager on Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett for their rendition of the 1934 Cole Porter classic “I Get a Kick Out of You”. It is listed as an attractive +325 bet to be named Record of the Year.
Best Bets: Olivia Rodrigo “Sour” – Album of the Year (+160) at Bovada; Lady Gaga & Tony Bennett “I Get a Kick Out of You” Record of the Year (+325)
