With that, the Rainbow Six Siege Berlin Major takes place from August 15, 2022 through August 21, 2022 at Theater am Potsdamer Platz.
The Berlin Major features 16 teams. The teams are divided into four groups of four. Group stage competition kicks off on August 15. That stage of the event features a double round-robin format. The top two teams from each group move onto a best-of-three playoff, followed by a best-of-five final. The quarter finals of the Berlin Major take place on Friday, August 19. Semi-finals are held on Saturday, August 20 and the Grand-Final goes down on Sunday, August 21.
A $500,000 prize pool is on the line, with the 1st place team taking home $200,000 and 375 points. Second place earns $80,000 and 300 points, while third and fourth get $40,000 and 230 points. Astralis
Astralis finished as runner-up to DarkZero Esports at the Charlotte Major in May by a score of 3-2. DarkZero will not be in Berlin, nor will world champions TSM FTX. With that, Astralis are the favorites to take home the Berlin Major title.
The American team was disappointed in losing in the final, but upon reflection the team was ultimately proud of what they achieved in Charlotte and they will look to build on that momentum in Berlin.
Wolves Esports
Wolves Esports are considered the best European team of 2022. The team had a good season, winning the 6 French League and the European League Stage 2 title. However, Wolves Esports is coming off a bad showing at the Charlotte Major where they finished third in their group. That finish prevented them from moving on to the playoffs. Despite that poor showing, there is a great deal of faith that the team will rebound in Berlin and be in the running for the overall title.
FURIA Esports
Hailing from Brazil, FURIA Esports is the only team who has qualified for all six international events since the COVID-19 imposed break in competition. With that type of consistency and high-level play, FURIA is always a threat to come out of an event on top. The downside for the team is that they have never finished as a top-four team in an international event.
FURIA has a tough road in the Group Stage, where they are in the same group as the Berlin Major favorites, Astralis. If the team can make it out of that stage, they could be in the running for the finals.
Our pick
With the disappointment of the runner-up finish in Charlotte behind them and the confidence that goes with making it to a final in a big event, look for Astralis to win the Berlin Major.
Pick: Astralis to win Rainbow Six Siege Berlin Major.
