The 2022 LPL Spring competition is roughly halfway through the round-robin stage, and with big games to come this weekend, it’s time for some more Esports betting picks.
So far in 2022 pre-competition favorites Royal Never Give Up (RNG), Top Esports, and EDward Gaming haven’t had things all their respective ways.
There are surprise packages at the top of the table, with Victory Five and Weibo Gaming sitting first and second in the table as things stand.
The top two are both in action this weekend, with Weibo Gaming up against OMG, and Victory Five having a far harder-looking match against LNG Esports.

The LPL Spring competition runs for over three and a half months in total. There are breaks in the competition during this time. But with 17 teams playing each other across a round-robin format (before we even get to the playoffs), it is a slow burner.
Popular Esports futures betting markets on this event are overall winners, and to finish in the top 3.
On top of those markets, you can also bet on individual match outcomes. The three main match markets are the Moneyline, total maps (over/under), and the match handicap.

LPL Spring Betting Picks
The battle at the top of the table is intensifying now, with both Weibo Gaming and Victory Five in hot streaks of form.
Victory Five’s recent win over EDward Gaming has seen them overtake last year’s third-place team, and it confirmed that V5 are genuine contenders to win this year’s event.
For our betting picks, I’m going to focus on the matches of the two table-toppers.
Weibo Gaming v OMG Picks
Weibo Gaming is now on a winning streak of seven. They have an overall record of 8-1, with a 15-5 games record.

The Chinese team is currently top of the table and is one of the surprise packages in this season’s competition.
On Saturday they face the early season leaders, OMG, whose form has now leveled off. OMG started like a train and sat top of the table after winning their first three matches in Week 1.
Since then, their form has leveled off and they now sit in 9th place with an overall record of 5-6. Meaning in their last eighth, they have won two and lost six.
In their last match this week, OMG lost 2-1 to Ultra Prime, a match they probably had expectations of winning.
Can they finish Week 6 of the competition with a win over Weibo? It looks highly unlikely, and the top sportsbooks don’t think so either.
Moneyline

There is little value on Weibo on the Moneyline, but on the Handicap spread they are -200, making that a far more value bet.
So for my opening pick this weekend, I’m going for Weibo Gaming to beat OMG on the handicap spread.

LNG Esports v Victory Five Picks
Onto Sunday and it’s Victory Five taking on LNG Esports. The top sportsbooks have fourth place LNG as their betting favorites, with Victory Five again challenged to prove the oddsmakers wrong.

On the Moneyline, LNG is -140 to win, with Victory Five at +100. Those odds defy the form though, as LNG is on a losing streak of two, while V5 is on a winning streak of five.

Such is the tightness of the group though, a win for LNG will see them go level at 8-2 with V5. This might go some way to explaining the contradictory betting odds on the Moneyline.
Looking elsewhere, and In the handicap market, LNG starts from -1.5 points and is +225.
While starting with a +1.5 points start, V5 are priced up at -300. I don’t see too much value in betting at -300 on V5 to win a minimum of one Map.
Instead, let’s look at the total maps betting market. Over 2.5 maps is -110, while under 2.5 maps is -125.
I can see this match going to a deciding map, so at odds of -110, I’m making over 2.5 total maps my betting pick for this match.
