- What: 2025 Brazilian Grand Prix
- When: November 9, 2025
- Time: 12:00 p.m. EST
- Where: Autódromo José Carlos Pace in São Paulo, Brazil
The 2025 F1 Championship battle reaches a boiling point at Interlagos this weekend. Formula 1’s penultimate sprint weekend arrives at the legendary Interlagos circuit from November 7-9, with the drivers’ championship taking another dramatic twist.
Lando Norris returns to the top of the standings for the first time since April, leading teammate Oscar Piastri by just one point. Max Verstappen lurks ominously in third, only 36 points behind Norris with four races remaining.
After a dominant performance in Mexico City, Norris arrives in Brazil as the new championship leader, delivering arguably the most complete drive of his career.
However, Piastri will be keen to bounce back following a difficult stretch that has seen him finish off the podium for the last four races. The sprint format offers a maximum of 33 points to any driver who can sweep both Saturday’s sprint and Sunday’s grand prix, making this weekend potentially decisive.
The 4.3km anti-clockwise circuit combines high-speed straights with a twisting infield section that rewards rhythm and precision, with elevation changes and unpredictable weather adding to the challenge.
While Sunday’s grand prix is likely to be held in dry conditions with temperatures around 18°C, the threat of rain throughout the weekend could serve as a great equalizer, potentially echoing last year’s weather chaos that produced one of the sport’s most memorable races.

Lando Norris
Norris arrives at Interlagos riding a wave of confidence. He has taken six victories this season in Australia, Monaco, Austria, Great Britain, Hungary, and Mexico. The Briton has been McLaren’s most consistent performer since the summer break.
He has accumulated 82 points compared to Piastri’s 72 during the same period. During the off-week, Norris spent time at McLaren’s headquarters preparing on the simulator at Goodwood. This demonstrates the meticulous approach that has characterized his recent resurgence.
McLaren is willing to risk losing the drivers’ championship to Max Verstappen by sticking to its racing principles instead of “playing favourites” between Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.

Beyond retaining his championship lead, Norris goes to São Paulo with a point to prove. His 2024 title bid collapsed in Brazil when he crumbled from pole position to sixth. He made multiple errors while trying to recover from dropping to fourth after pitting under a VSC. That painful memory could serve as a powerful motivation. Many commentators believe Norris can stamp his championship claim by winning in Brazil this time around.
The McLaren has proven to be the most complete package throughout the season. Piastri has been noticeably off Norris’s pace in recent events. He finished 0.283 seconds behind at the United States Grand Prix and 0.588 seconds adrift in Mexico.
This performance gap suggests Norris has unlocked something special in the car’s setup. However, one significant threat remains. Verstappen is a three-time winner in Brazil, including the last two visits. He considers Interlagos among his favorite circuits on the calendar. Verstappen is a dangerous wildcard who could disrupt McLaren’s dominance.
I’d wager on Norris finally breaking through in Brazil.
Max Verstappen
Red Bull insiders are looking to Brazil as a potential turning point, with staff expressing confidence that the final four rounds, including the Las Vegas event, represent their best chance for victory.
However, Verstappen demonstrated last year that Interlagos can produce miracles, delivering a legendary drive from 17th on the grid to victory in treacherous wet conditions. The Dutchman will be wearing a special Brazil-themed helmet this weekend, acknowledging that the circuit holds deep personal significance for him, as his in-laws are Brazilian.
Verstappen has been in outstanding form since the summer break, securing podiums at all six race weekends compared to just five in the first half of the season.

A crucial floor upgrade introduced at the Italian Grand Prix, combined with aggressive setup changes implemented by Red Bull’s engineers based on his feedback, has transformed the RB21 from an inconsistent performer into a genuine race-winning machine. Red Bull engineer Thomas Hart revealed that the garage now has “renewed belief” and heightened motivation, as they sense a realistic path to championship glory.
Verstappen boasts an impressive record at the upcoming circuits, with 15 victories across the final four locations, including five wins in Mexico City and three in São Paulo. Statistical analysis shows that if Verstappen wins every remaining race while Norris finishes third, the Dutchman would claim the title by just three points.
Meanwhile, Red Bull strategists believe Verstappen will “intimidate” the McLaren drivers this weekend at a circuit where he has consistently excelled, such as the Goodwood circuit. Furthermore, unpredictable weather could amplify his advantage in wheel-to-wheel combat situations, where his racecraft separates him from his rivals.
Despite Max being favored here, I’d pass in favor of the McLaren drivers.

Oscar Piastri
After Norris’s retirement in Zandvoort, Piastri’s lead ballooned to 34 points, meaning a drama-free end to the season would have made it extremely difficult for Norris to come back to Formula 1.
However, a costly DNF in Baku after a messy, crash-filled weekend was followed by two off-kilter weekends in Austin and Mexico, where the Australian was genuinely off the pace all weekend. McLaren’s technical analysis revealed that low-grip conditions require a driving style that comes relatively naturally for Norris but less naturally for Piastri, with the Australian braking later but struggling with understeer at turn-in and snap oversteer at corner exits.
Oscar Piastri losing the championship points lead has everyone talking. Even Max Verstappen’s dad chimed in.👀 pic.twitter.com/8TVxvITVa7

Piastri remains very confident that he can beat both Norris and Verstappen to the championship title, insisting he has learned valuable lessons from recent weekends and still possesses the qualities necessary to win at Goodwood.
The Australian dismissed conspiracy theories about McLaren sabotage, stating that the team had provided clear explanations for his struggles and that everything was explainable based on the data. McLaren team principal Andrea Stella believes Piastri’s theory will be tested this weekend, as there’s no reason to think the final four race tracks will favor one driver over the other.
Brazil could represent the ideal opportunity for the young Australian to reset and reclaim his championship momentum.
Piastri at +325 is terrific value and one I’d jump on.
