- What: 2025 United States Grand Prix
- When: October 19, 2025
- Time: 3:00 p.m. EST
- Where: Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas
The 2025 Formula 1 season speeds into its 19th round at the iconic Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas, for the United States Grand Prix.
As the season approaches its final stretch, the stakes are sky-high—especially with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris leading the Drivers’ Championship. Meanwhile, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen shows signs of vintage form, making the title race even more compelling.
McLaren’s 2025 resurgence shines. Oscar Piastri leads the standings with 336 points and seven wins, while Lando Norris follows closely with five wins and a steady podium streak.
Max Verstappen, now third, has surged with two wins and two runner-up finishes in the last four races. His pace after victories in Italy and Azerbaijan puts him in serious contention at Austin, a track where he’s won three times.
COTA often produces unpredictable results. Last year, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc won, Verstappen finished third, and Norris, despite starting on pole, placed fourth. Hamilton still leads all-time U.S. GP wins, but his last was in 2017.

Beyond the favorites, keep an eye on qualifying—grid position can be crucial at COTA, especially if rain is in the forecast. Tire strategy and late-race safety cars have also shaped recent outcomes here.
With the championship battle still open and every point at a premium, expect aggressive strategies from McLaren and Red Bull alike.

Lando Norris
McLaren has dominated this season. Lando Norris is second in the drivers’ standings with 314 points, trailing teammate Oscar Piastri’s 336.
The 25-year-old began the year with a win in Australia and added another in Monaco. He then posted a second-place and 18th-place finish before winning consecutively in Austria and England. Norris finished second in Belgium and secured a fifth victory in Hungary.

Since then, Norris has sought another win, finishing 18th in the Netherlands, second in Italy, seventh in Azerbaijan, and third in Singapore.
At the United States Grand Prix, Norris’s best result is second place, achieved in 2023. Last year, he started on pole but finished in fourth place.
This race sets up well for Lando, there’s a reason why he’s favored here. I would bet on him to win this race at this price.
Max Verstappen
Reigning world champion Max Verstappen has experienced an up-and-down 2025 season with Red Bull, but his recent performances have been impressive.
He started from pole and claimed victories in both Italy and Azerbaijan, while finishing second at the Dutch Grand Prix and the latest Singapore GP.
Verstappen remains the only driver this year to secure consecutive wins—a feat he’s accomplished twice. In Singapore, he narrowly missed a third straight victory, settling for runner-up.

With these results, Verstappen currently sits third in the Drivers’ Standings with 273 points.
Building on his strong form, Verstappen has also enjoyed notable success at the United States Grand Prix, winning the race three times consecutively from 2021 to 2023. Last season, he finished third in Austin.

Oscar Piastri
Oscar Piastri is the current betting favorite for the 2025 F1 Drivers’ Championship and leads the standings 25 ahead of his McLaren teammate Lando Norris.
The 24-year-old Australian has excelled this season, winning seven of 18 races, including victories in China, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Miami, Spain, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
He also has three second-place and four third-place finishes. Only in Australia (ninth), Canada (fourth), and Azerbaijan, where he crashed out on the first lap—his first retirement since the 2023 United States Grand Prix—did he miss the podium. Most recently, he finished fourth in the Singapore event.

Meanwhile, Piastri has raced at the United States Grand Prix twice in his career, retiring in 2023 and finishing fifth in 2024. I would pass on Piastri in this race, I prefer Norris.
