Red Bull enters Melbourne as the overwhelming favorite, having showcased dominant performances in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
It’s game on between Max and Checo! 🔥💪
Only ONE point separates the two drivers in the championship fight 👀#AusGP #F1 @redbullracing pic.twitter.com/q1zBhEbIZV

It doesn’t get any better than finishing 1-2 in both races to start a season. The Red Bull team already has a sizeable points lead (87-38) over Aston Martin and Mercedes in the Constructors’ World Championship standings.

Red Bull does not have the best track record at Albert Park, with only one race win over the past two decades!
Albert Park Circuit
The Albert Park Circuit is one of the most recognizable circuits on the Formula 1 calendar. Albert Park has hosted the Australian Grand Prix since 1996.

As the circuit is situated within a Melbourne park, approximately 290,000 hours of manual labor are required each year to construct the track and surroundings.
The Australian Grand Prix has yet to be won by a native Australian. Apart from the first-ever F1 race, the 2007 Australian Grand Prix was the only time, every driver on the podium was making their debut appearance for their teams.
Kimi Raikkonen finished first for Ferrari, while Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton rounded out the top three for McLaren.

Aston Martin
During the season-opening race in Bahrain, Alonso expressed his admiration for the “beautiful car to drive” that is his Aston Martin. Even with the third-place finish, he trailed behind both Red Bull cars by almost 28 seconds.
He went on to secure a third-place finish again at Jeddah, indicating that Aston Martin is a credible contender for the position of the second-best constructor this season, joining the ranks of Ferrari and Mercedes.
Building momentum. 👊

Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin have been the only other team to have any type of success in the first two races. The car rides very fast and Alonso’s experience is worth a small bet.
I would recommend betting on Fernando Alonso to win the 2023 Australian Grand Prix.
Ferrari
Charles Leclerc emerged victorious in the last edition of the Australian Grand Prix in 2022. However, Leclerc and Ferrari have struggled in the first two flyaway races of the season.
Leclerc’s hope of securing a podium finish was dashed due to engine failure, despite two changes being made to the energy store elements.
As a result of the need for a third energy store element change (which exceeds the permitted two per season), he received a grid penalty of ten spots, placing him 12th on the grid ahead of the last race despite a second-place finish in qualifying.

Although Leclerc posted the second-fastest lap last week, it feels like a fool’s errand to back him against Verstappen.
I would advise against betting on Charles Leclerc or Carlos Sainz to win the Australian Grand Prix.

Mercedes
Mercedes has acknowledged their missteps this season, confessing that their car has not met the required standards.
This has been evident in both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell’s driving, with the pair failing to secure a podium finish in either race so far. They seem ready to move past those issues and want to challenge Red Bull.

While the right setup and conditions could see both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell challenge for a podium, I would advise against betting on either of them to win the Australian Grand Prix.
Best Bet
While a potential clash between Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen is certainly a thrilling idea, the stats indicate that Verstappen is a considerably faster driver.
Verstappen was dominating in Saudi Arabia before he was plagued by driveshaft issues. I’m not too excited about the value Verstappen provides at -300, but he’s the best bet to win this race.
I would recommend betting on Max Verstappen to win the 2023 Australian Grand Prix.
