F1 2021 US Grand Prix Betting Predictions

Six is the number worth remembering in F1 right now. That number is indicative of how many races remain in the season AND the points separating first and second place in the championship standings. It sets up for a huge race next up and we have complete F1 2021 US Grand Prix betting predictions on it!

But before we get too ahead of ourselves, let’s see how online oddsmakers are pegging the upcoming American GP. Of course, the usual two drivers are currently favored the most to win outright:

Betting Momentum With Mercedes

Both Mercedes drivers (Lewis Hamilton and Valterri Bottas) are clear-cut favorites over their Red Bull rivals (Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez) in the American GP betting odds. The tide is turning and it’s headed in Mercedes’ direction — and not just with bookies either.

This tide has been building but became apparent at the most recent Turkish Grand Prix. After Hamilton was dealt with a grid penalty (forcing him to begin at P11), Verstappen was supposed to run away with the win. Instead, he finished second to Bottas.

But honestly, it was never even close. Bottas scurried ahead early on and remained unchallenged from there on out, finishing 15 seconds ahead of Verstappen. Hamilton, despite the costly penalty, placed fourth. With the race results, Verstappen retook the world championship lead over Hamilton, 262.5 points to 256.5.

Regardless, Mercedes was noticeably faster than Red Bull. Bottas and Hamilton were around 15 to 20km per hour faster in a straight line in Istanbul than Verstappen and Perez. The talk of the circuit has become whether Mercedes’ mid-season car improvements are even legal.

Red Bull boss Christian Horner openly admitted they, plus other manufacturers, asked FIA if Mercedes hardware was operating legally. FIA answered back, yes, it’s all legal and fair game. Regardless, you know you’re doing something right when opponents start to wonder whether you’re cheating or not.

Best Bet To Win F1 United States Grand Prix

If you’ve read our betting picks throughout the racing season, you know we’ve continuously backed Verstappen more than any other driver in the sport. For most of the season, Red Bull had the fastest car that was being questioned for legality. It mostly worked to Verstappen’s favor as he won a leading seven races (to Hamilton’s five).

Things have changed, however. We’re firmly of the belief Mercedes now has the top-class car and at this point in the winding-down season, it’s likely too late for any car to surpass them in performance. Of course, this predicament firmly empowers Hamilton as he goes for title number eight, which would be most in F1 history.

It’s why Hamilton is earning our only outright winner bet of the event. It also helps that the seven-time world champion has quite the track record at the Circuit of the Americas (COAT) in Austin, Texas. Hamilton has six career victories here — an all-time mark in the sport (the next best, Michael Schumacher has five career wins here).

Given both recent events (Mercedes’ vastly improved car) and track history (Hamilton’s sheer dominance), Hamilton is without question the smart bet to make here. Heck, he might be the best bet for each of the remaining races — that’s how much the tide has shifted in his favor and away from Verstappen. Your betting money is in safe hands with Hamilton the rest of 2021
