Despite they are 8.5 games behind from the top spot in the American League West division; the Los Angeles Angels seem to be making a run at just the perfect time. They will face the Dodgers this week; the head to head pitcher matchup listed for Wednesday night is Chris Capuano vs Jered Weaver.
Game starts at 10 PM ET.
Weaver (elbow) will return from the disabled list and start Wednesday against the Dodgers. His last outing was back on April 7th in a 7-3 loss against the Texas Rangers (division leaders). He pitched five innings, allowed seven hits and five runs, including two home runs.
The 30 year old right handed avoided a rehab assignment as the fracture occurred in his non-throwing elbow. To have him back is great for the Angels that are trying to close the gab against he Rangers.
“It’s very encouraging,” Manager Mike Scioscia said. “We’re going to see how he comes out of his bullpen, and if everything is fine, we’ll fold him into the rotation in the middle of the week. If he needs more work, it will be there for him.”
“My location was good, my velocity was good, everything felt good,” said Weaver, who joined the team in Kansas City on Thursday. “I’m starting to gain a little arm strength back.”
The other Los Angeles team, the Dodgers, is not looking good as they have lost six of the last 10 and cannot find a way to catch fire and make a run. Capuano, listed for Wednesday night is 1-3 this season with a 5.60 ERA.
