MLB Betting – New York Yankees at Washington Nationals

New York Yankees (+134) at Washington Nationals (-144, 7.5 o/u)

Two heavyweights of the early 2015 MLB season, the New York Yankees (22-18, 13-11 Away) and Washington Nationals (23-17, 11-6 Home), will clash tonight in the second of a short two-game series at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. (7:05 PM Eastern).

Washington won the first game on Tuesday Night (8-6) and right fielder Bryce Harper continued his hot streak, swatting his 15th home run of the season (tops in the NL) and upping his RBI total to 38.

Team affiliations aside, everyone is starting to recognize Harper’s prowess.

“I think we’ve all recognized his talent for a long time,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi told MLB’s official website. “I think he’s starting to fulfill the expectations, and he’ll fill them for some time.”

“He is unbelievable,” Nationals catcher Jose Lobaton added. “How can you explain that? He hits a home run, a single, triples. I don’t know. It’s good to have someone like that on the team.”

Washington will send right-hander A.J. Cole to the mound tonight; the 23-year-old from Winter Spring, Florida, has just one start this season, in which he went just 2.0 innings, allowing nine hits and nine runs against the Braves in late April. Despite Cole getting battered, the Nats still emerged with a 13-12 win.

New York will counter with right-hander Adam Warren, who is 2-2 after seven starts with a 4.50 ERA.  Warren went 7.0 innings against Tampa Bay in his last outing, allowing seven hits and three earned as the Pinstripers fell 3-2.

In the trends, three of the last four meetings between the Yankees and Nationals have gone over the game total. With the uninspiring Cole on the mound, look for that trend to continue tonight.

Pick: OVER (7.5).
