MLB Betting – Seattle Mariners at Tampa Bay Rays

Seattle Mariners (+129) at Tampa Bay Rays (-139, 7 o/u)

The Tampa Bay Rays (24-21, 13-11 Home) are still leading a rather poor AL East division despite dropping their last two, but they will look to bounce back when hosting the Seattle Mariners (20-23, 9-13 Away) this today at Tropicana Field, in the lid-lifter of a three game series (7:10 PM Eastern).

Tampa lost the weekend series to the lowly Oakland A’s, going down 5-0 on Saturday and 7-2 on Sunday. However both Tampa starters made it in to the sixth inning, so the bullpen should have no problems tonight if called upon when the Rays send right-hander Jake Odorizzi (2.43 ERA) to the mound.

Ordorizzi has been a bit of the hard luck starter this season, going at least six innings every start and never surrendering more than four runs, but only holding a 3-4 record.

“You feel for him because he’s pitched really well all year,” manager Kevin Cash told MLB.com. “At the same time, he’s a pro. He gets it. He just keeps going out there giving us what we need.”

Odorizzi has lost his last two starts facing Atlanta and Minnesota. Against the Braves, he threw 6.0 innings and allowed four hits and two runs in the 2-1 defeat on May 20.

The Rays will try and provide better run support despite Asdrubal Cabrera, James Loney and Steven Souza Jr. all being listed as day-to-day after various injuries this weekend.

The Seattle Mariners won two of their three meetings against the Toronto Blue Jays during the weekend but were the defeated on Sunday 8-2 despite Kyle Seager homering for the second straight game.

The Mariners are eight games behind the Houston Astros in the AL West and will send lefty Roenis Elias to the mound to counter tonight.  Elias is 1-1 in 2015 after five starts, with a 2.76 ERA; he won his last outing against the Baltimore Orioles on May 20, after 7.2 innings pitched, six hits allowed and just one run.

Seattle has won the last three in a row against Tampa Bay, and five of the last six games in the series have gone under the game total.

Pick: Seattle (+129).
