NBA Betting – Thunder at Warriors (Game 5)

Oklahoma City Thunder at Golden State Warriors (-7.5, 220.5 o/u)

The Golden State Warriors (9-5 SU, 8-6 ATS) picked a bad time for their first two-game losing streak of the season. After dropping Game 4, 118-94, they’re now down 3-1 to the Oklahoma City Thunder (11-4 SU, 10-5 ATS) and need a win tonight at ORACLE Arena (9:00 PM Eastern) to keep their dream season alive.

The Warriors have nobody but themselves to blame for their current predicament. The defense has been atrocious in the last two, giving up 125.5 PPG, and the offense hasn’t been able to bail them out. Ball movement has been an issue on O. The team that lead the league in assists during the regular season has put up just 34 total in Games 3 and 4.

Add in back-to-back off nights from two-time reigning MVP Steph Curry (5 of 21 from three, combined), the virtual disappearance of Draymond Green (12 points, total), and Golden State has looked like a shell of the team that cruised to the best regular-season record of all time (73-9).

Meanwhile, the OKC stars have been just that. Russell Westbrook put up another triple-double in Game 4 (36 points, 11 assists, and 11 boards). Kevin Durant didn’t shoot particularly well (8 of 24 from the field) but he still finished with 26 points after nailing nine of ten from the stripe. He also threw in 11 rebounds, four steals, and three blocks.

The Warriors only lost twice at home during the regular season. They’ve already dropped a home game to the Thunder in this series, but their home-court advantage remains one of the most potent the league has ever known.

The team has proven time and again that they can bounce back from off nights (which is why they’d yet to lose two in a row before last game). Even though they didn’t come out of their mini-slump last time out, I expect the friendly confines of the Bay Area to be just the recipe that Curry and company need. Look for the MVP to shoot his way out of his slump and send this series back to OKC.

Pick: Warriors (-7.5).
