The Memphis Grizzlies won the last game of the regular season against the Dallas Mavericks to end as the 7th seed in the Western Conference; their prize will be taking on the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the playoffs. Game 1 is scheduled to go down this Saturday at 9:30 PM ET.
The Grizzlies won their last five games in a row, including a 106-105 overtime thrilling matchup against the Mavs in the last game of the regular season.
“We’ve been holding on very tight for a long time …” Memphis coach Dave Joerger said. “Getting 50 wins is something you want on your resume as a player, and people remember those. Those are special seasons. It’s a standard, a golden standard I think.”
The Thunder has one thing on their mind; get back to the NBA finals no matter what. The last time they were the second seed; they won the West but failed to outplay the Miami Heat.
“We know them well enough,” guard Thabo Sefolosha said about Memphis. “We know what we have to do. It’s just following the game plan and staying focused throughout the game and the 48 minutes.”
OKC is seven point favorites over Memphis for game one, according to the NBA betting odds. The game total was set at 192.5 points. The Thunder won the season series 3-1, but their only loss came at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
