Updated 2020 National Championship and Heisman Odds After Week 10

  • BetOnline lists Alabama (+175) as the favorite to win the National Championship, just ahead of Ohio State (+200)
  • Justin Fields (+150) has a narrow lead over Mac Jones (+175) in the Heisman Trophy race
  • Kyle Trask (+550) moved himself into Heisman contention with another 4 TD performance against Georgia in Week 10

Notre Dame’s 47-40 double-overtime win over Clemson did more than delay the start of Saturday Night Live on the East Coast – it narrowed the college football playoff field considerably.

Let’s take a look at the updated National Championship odds after Week 10 before taking a peek at the latest movement in the Heisman race.

2020 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP ODDS

Team Current Odds Trending After Wk 9
Alabama +175 +200
Ohio State +200 +200
Clemson +300 +225
Florida +1200 +2800
Notre Dame +1200 +2500
BYU +3300 +5000
Cincinnati +3300 +6600
Texas A&M +5000 N/A
Oklahoma +5000 N/A
Georgia +6600 +1800

CLEMSON GOES DOWN

One could forgive Clemson (+300) for losing a game if their offense sputtered with Trevor Lawrence on the COVID-19 list, but quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei was certainly not to blame for Saturday’s loss to Notre Dame, throwing for 439 yards and two touchdowns.

To secure a spot in the College Football Playoff, the Tigers defense will have to bounce back in the season’s final three games. Lawrence will then have to lead Clemson past the Fighting Irish in a likely rematch in the ACC Championship Game.

With their upset victory over the Tigers, Notre Dame (+1200) snapped an 11-game losing streak against top-five teams and beat a No. 1 for the first time since 1993. If Brian Kelly’s team can win their last four games against unranked opponents, they’ll have an excellent shot of advancing to the CFP even in they fall to Clemson in the ACC Championship Game.

Florida (+1200) is also in serious contention for a playoff spot after blowing out Georgia 44-28 on Saturday. However, the one-loss Gators will need to run the table from here and defeat No. 1 Alabama in a likely SEC Championship Game.

Mac Jones (Alabama QB) +175 +150
Trevor Lawrence (Clemson QB) +250 +225

JUSTIN FIELDS RUNNING WILD

Are we sure NFL teams are tanking for Trevor? Justin Fields (+175) threw five touchdown passes and ran for another score to help Ohio State beat Rutgers 49-27 on Saturday night.

To win the Heisman Trophy, Trevor Lawrence (+250) will have to return to action in top form (not something other athletes like Cam Newton have been able to accomplish after contracting the virus) and light it up in Clemson’s final three or four contests.

Meanwhile, Fields has six more games against subpar Big Ten competition to continue to grow his lead over the field.  We recommended the Buckeyes dual-threat star at +700 a few weeks back, but don’t be afraid to bet him at +150 if you missed the boat.

With Alabama’s Mac Jones (+175) on bye, let’s turn our attention to Kyle Trask (+550), who threw for 474 yards and 4 touchdowns in Florida’s win over Georgia. Up from +3300 last week, the Gators senior now has 22 TDs and 3 INTs on the season, tossing at least four scores in all five games.
