NFL Week 1 Lines – Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints

The NFC South division can be decided as early as week one, when the Atlanta Falcons clash against the New Orleans Saints, this Sunday at 1 PM ET at Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

falcons-saints“Obviously it is a place we are very familiar with, (and) a team we are very familiar with,” said Quarterback Matt Ryan, who is 1-4 in New Orleans. “We know it’s going to be a tough challenge for us down there, (it) always is.”

The Falcons took home the division title in 2012, now the Saints want it back. The most importer thing about the Saints is that they will have head coach Sean Payton back for this season. The Saints are 10-2 against the Falcons with Payton and Drew Brees together.

“Sean is a very good football coach,” Atlanta coach Mike Smith said. “His record speaks for itself. He is one of the best play callers in the league right now. He is an important part. When you have your play caller back, we anticipate we are going to see some things different than what we’ve seen last year, when he wasn’t there.”

This is a game between two high power offenses and two really lousy defenses.  It should have lots of points.

The Saints defense should have a different approach under defensive coordinator Rob Ryan; they will be more aggressive.  However, they won’t have Jonathan Vilma and Will Smith; arguably their two best players.

The NFL odds have the Saints as three point favorites.
