Drew Brees and Darren Sproles will try to give their ex team a hard welcome to New Orleans as the Saints host the San Diego Chargers in a Sunday night showdown at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
The Saints look for their first victory of the season, but also Drew Brees will try to break Jonny Unitas’ record with more consecutive games throwing a touchdown. “Obviously, I’d like to be talking about it after a win,” Brees said of the record. “But certainly it’s significant to even be in the same realm as a guy like Johnny Unitas”.
Brees found Maruques Coltson last week consistently for the first time in the season; expect to see that again this weekend. “This was the first time all year that Drew and I have had it going like that,” Colston said. “It is a good step in the right direction”.
San Diego chose Phillip Rivers over Brees and few years ago and despite Rivers has been great; their chances of winning a Super Bowl are getting smaller every day.
“It’s been many years since I’ve been around Drew, but he’s treating today like they’re 4-0,” San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers said. “He’s very steady. And that’s how you bounce back from a situation like they’re in. In a Drew Brees team with what they’ve been though, you can’t ever count them out of anything. We’ll get their best, and we’ve got to prepare to make sure that we give them our best”.
