Peyton Manning and the Broncos knew their start of the season wasn’t going to be easy, but in the calendar, one of the possible victories should come when the Oakland Raiders visit the Sports Authority Field at Mile High. That game is this Sunday at 4:05 PM ET.
Manning is sitting with a 1-2 record and with a substantial chemistry problem on his hands; he seems like he hasn’t been in tune with his receivers on every snap. “We have to study this tape and study what it is we’re doing wrong,” Manning said. “Study anything that we are doing well and try to build off that”.
“We’re 1-2, and we’ve got a big division game coming up against Oakland,” said Manning, who has won his last three matches versus the Raiders. “Division games count double, so we’ve got to learn from this last game and improve from it”.
The Raiders beat the Steelers at home with a last second field goal. The impressive part was both the win, but also the fact that they scored 34 points.
“We’ve got it in us to be a mentally tough team and compete and fight and keep going until the very end,” said first-year Raiders coach and ex-Denver’s defensive coordinator, Dennis Allen. “That’s what you have to do to win consistently in this league, and that’s what our guys did”.
Carson Palmer completed 24 of 34 passes for 209 yards with a season-high three touchdowns; he took the Raiders to score more points than their first two weeks combined.
The odds have Manning and the Broncos as -6.5 favorites.
