NHL Saturday Odds – Canadiens at Lightning

The last time the Tampa Bay Lightning lost a game was on December 14th; they will try to keep winning as they host the Montreal Canadiens this Saturday at 7 PM ET at Tampa Bay Times Forum.

montreal_tampa_nhlTampa has won five in a row after smashing the Florida Panthers 6-1 on Monday.

“We’ve played good, I know we’ve had some adversity thrown at us, but we find ways,” Tampa Bay’s Martin St. Louis told the team’s official website. “With Florida it all started with our goaltending, it could have been a two-goal game or a one-goal game, but Ben Bishop has been there in net and it all starts there.”

The Lightning is second in the Eastern conference standings with 49 points; two behind are the Montreal Canadiens, who has lost four of the last three seven games they played in.

Montreal beat the Nashville predators in their last outing 4-3 in overtime. “I like playing those overtimes, those shootouts, I want to make the difference”, Canadiens Center David Desharnais said. “I knew he was going to try to hold that puck there, so I just beat him to the puck and took a shot.”

Montreal has won four of the last five games against Tampa Bay in the series; three of those five ended over the game total.  The Canadiens average 3.1 goals when playing the Lightning; Tampa Bay averages 2.3.

The NHL moneyline has listed Tampa Bay as the favorite -116; meanwhile Montreal is +105.
