NHL Playoff Betting – Rangers at Penguins (Game 3)

New York Rangers (-114) at Pittsburgh Penguins (+103, 5 o/u)

The Pittsburgh Penguins (1-1, 0-0 home) showed they have some fight left in them yet, stealing Game 2 from the New York Rangers (1-1, 0-0 away) on Saturday, 4-3. Now the series moves to the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh for Game 3 tonight (7:00 PM Eastern).

After a 2-1 win in Game 1 (as big -169 favorites), New York had a chance to take a commanding 2-0 series lead on the weekend against a slumping Penguins team. But Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby had other plans, scoring twice to help the Penguins break a four-game playoff losing streak and pick up just their second win in the last eight games, overall.

“It’s nice to get rewarded,” said Crosby. “Sometimes in the playoffs you play well and you don’t always get the result you want. I thought we continued from the end of last game. I thought we were more aggressive at the end of last game and improved that [Saturday].”

The Rangers won’t lose too much sleep thinking about Game 2. The Blueshirts had NHL’s best record away from home in the regular season, going 28-11-2, including 15 wins in their last 18 road games.

“It’s important in the playoffs to make sure you can play in a home building and in a road building,” Rangers center Derek Stepan said. “We have to make sure we get ourselves refocused and get ourselves ready for Game 3.”

In the trends, the Rangers have won seven of the last ten head-to-head, outscoring the Penguins 33-20. Look for New York to show why it was the President’s Trophy winner and bounce back with a road win tonight.

Pick: Rangers (-114).
