Birmingham The Favorites To Repeat As UFL Champions

Though the XFL merged with the USFL after their 2023 campaigns, there lies a good deal of XFL rebelliousness in the UFL. The Spring football league enters its second season starting later this March with the same eight teams. Hopefully, there is as much excitement as last year. However, will there be a new champion or will Birmingham find a way to dominate once again. 2025 UFL Futures Bets take a closer look.

  • Birmingham (+200) is the favorite to defend its UFL crown and continue its run of football excellence
  • St. Louis (+350) expects to challenge again for the title.
  • D.C. and San Antonio (both around +600) may provide resistance to the Stallions and Battlehawks as the season goes forth.

The 2025 UFL season will kick off on Thursday, March 28th with a solid game between the St. Louis Battlehawks and the Houston Roughnecks. League champion Birmingham begins defense of its crown on the road against the D.C. Defenders who have aspirations of taking the title. All eight teams will be taking the field highlighted with a Sunday doubleheader. Now, this 2025 season will be aired over the ESPN and FOX family of networks (ABC, ESPN/ESPN2, FOX, FS1).

Birmingham Leads The 2025 UFL Futures Bets

After winning the inaugural 2024 championship, Birmingham (+200) leads the way in the 2025 UFL Futures bets. The debut UFL campaign saw the Stallions steamroll through the playoffs. That included a 25-0 shutout over the San Antonio Brahmas in the championship game. Many bettors ask can they do it once again?

Birmingham expects to keep most of its core again. Again, all the Stallions know how to do is win. This is a team that won the USFL the previous two years before the UFL was formed. It matters little what is stacked against them. Now, Birmingham went 9-1 last season before disposing of a pesky Michigan team then San Antonio. Skip Holtz and the staff seem to just find players and plug them in without a problem. It makes one wonder if Holtz will head back to the NFL. In the meantime, Birmingham is downright dominant.

Again, it starts with quarterback and the Stallions. Their defense ranked as one of the tops in the league. Every year of their existence has had the same ending. It is hard to see things going much differently in 2025. While some fans and pundits have concerns with this fact, Birmingham runs a pro-style type of game that other teams still are catching up to. Protective Stadium remains one of the toughest places to play because of how good the Stallions are.
The Stallions excel in close football games. Yes, Birmingham’s final three wins of last regular season were all by one possession. With the depth of the Stallions at every position, there is little doubt that the team can repeat once again and take their fourth Spring football crown.

2025 UFL Futures Bets Ask Who Comes For The Title

2025 UFL Futures Bets asks who comes for the title. The other seven teams in the league felt a bit blindsided by the Birmingham team last year. Worse, in the playoffs, the Stallions raised their game several levels. Michigan and especially San Antonio did not seem equipped to handle the added intensity.

There are concerns with both of these teams as many think D.C. and St. Louis are a little better suited to deal with Birmingham. However, the Mike Nolan-coached Michigan team did go 7-3 last season. Arguably, they provided the stiffest challenge to the Stallions. San Antonio was the only team that defeated Birmingham so that is something they will hang their hat on this season. However, the Brahmas will not have home advantage for that game.

Michigan has intriguing numbers here at +700. It is a bit surprising to see them in this position but maybe that number shortens again much like it did last year. The Panthers were in a similar position for 2024 before they went on the prowl. Can they take that extra step or two required to dethrone the champs? It might again come between them and San Antonio.

Can We Go Walking On Memphis?

Can we go walking on Memphis in the 2025 UFL Futures bets? It is no secret that Memphis had a rough season but they did get the top draft pick for 2025 in quarterback Jason Bean. Could Bean be enough to rise the Steamboats record from the ashes? Ken Whisenhunt inherits a team that went 2-8 last season and probably had the worst offense in the league. That defense was not much better.

Alas, this would be the biggest longshot in the league next to Houston. However, Bean could challenge for a spot. Expect Whisenhunt and his staff to turn this team around. Memphis represents at least a team to keep an eye on. It would not take much for a turnaround to occur.

Best Bet

Birmingham (+200) remains the best bet until someone dethrones them when it counts. Will they lost a game maybe even two games? That is very possible. Come the playoffs though, this team has been a cut above every year of their existence. It becomes difficult to bet against them. This wager worked three times before so why not make it four.
