He took home the title in 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. Van Gerwen has 31 points going into the playoffs. He won three nights and finished as runner-up on four occasions in 2022. Van Gerwen is in first spot in the ProTour Order of Merit with £178,250 in the past 12 months.
Jonny Clayton
The 47-year-old Jonny Clayton is only appearing in his second Premier League. However, Clayton is coming off a win last year. His last win came in Night 13 when he defeated Van Gerwen. His losses came to Joe Cullen and Michael Smith.
Clayton is in the 14th spot in the ProTour Order of Merit with £68,250 in the past 12 months.
Joe Cullen
Joe Cullen finished Night 16 of the Premier League in a big way. Heading into the final week, the last play-off spot came down to the matchup between Cullen and Peter Wright. The two players were knotted at 22 points heading into their game in the quarterfinals. Cullen won 6-4 and with that he secured his spot in the play-offs. This year marks the first time the 32-year-old made it to the play-offs.
Cullen won two nights of the 2022 season and finished as the runner-up on two other occasions. Cullen is 10th in the ProTour Order of Merit with £88,250 over the past 12 months.
James Wade
James Wade has a single Premier League title to his name. The 39-year-old, who made his 12th appearance in the Premier League in 2022, won the title in 2009. Wade enters the play-offs with 25 points this year. Over the 16 nights, he won twice and finished in the second spot three times.
Wade’s most recent win came on Night 12 when he topped Clayton. He has not made the Final since then. Wade is 21st in the ProTour Order of Merit with £54,000 over the past 12 months.
Our Pick
Jonny Clayton finished strong, making three of the last four finals. With that, he should have the momentum and confidence heading into the play-offs.
Pick: Jonny Clayton to win the 2022 Cazoo Premier League Play-Offs.
