- Location: Bolton Whites Hotel in Bolton, England
- How to Watch: DAZN
The 12th Champion of Champions Snooker tournament takes place between October 31 and November 6 at Bolton Whites Hotel in Bolton, England. The invitational event features 16 of the best snooker players in the world competing for a prize pool of £440,000. The winner of the event takes home £150,000. Last year, Judd Trump defeated John Higgins to win the Champion of Champions event.
Since the event is invite only, the players do not earn world rankings points for their play during the Champion of Champions. The players who qualified for this year’s tournament were winners of 2021-2022 tournaments, starting with Trump winning last year’s event and ending with Lee Walker winning the 2022 World Seniors Championship in May. Mark Selby qualified via the world rankings.

Neil Robertson
The 2010 World Champion, Neil Robertson, made his 2022-23 season debut at the Hong Kong Masters. The 40-year-old recently said he will not play every tournament like he once did. “’I’m playing for fun now. I’ve got a young family now, so I don’t need to play in every tournament these days. My family is really important to me. They’re my inspiration to win.”
Robertson had three ranking tournament wins last year, including the Tour Championship, which he also won in 2021. He made it past Mark Williams in the quarter-finals of the Hong Kong Masters, but fell to Ronnie O’Sullivan by a score of 6-4 in the semi-final round. The former world champ is coming off a semi-finals loss to Mark Allen at the recent Northern Ireland Open. Robertson made it to the quarter-finals of last year’s Champion of Champions event, losing to Kyren Wilson.
Robertson is the No. 2 ranked player in the world.
Ronnie O’Sullivan
The No. 1 ranked snooker player in the world, Ronnie O’Sullivan, picked up his first win of the 2022-23 snooker season with a victory in the Hong Kong Masters.
The 46-year-old finished 2022 by winning his seventh World Championship, but he struggled in the opening stages of the current campaign. He was eliminated in the second round of the Championship League tournament in late July. O’Sullivan withdrew from the season’s second event, the European Masters for medical reasons. O’Sullivan was eliminated in the round of 128 in the British Open.
Despite his win in Hong Kong, O’Sullivan failed to get past the opening round of the Northern Ireland Open. O’Sullivan lost to John Higgins in the quarter-finals of the 2021 Champion of Champions event.
Judd Trump
The No. 3 ranked snooker player in the world, Judd Trump is not having a good year. Trump was eliminated in the opening round of the 2022-23 version of the Champion’s League. He followed that by making it to the quarter-finals of the European Masters. As for the British Open, Trump made it to the last 16 before losing to eventual winner Mark Allen. Trump did not make it out of the first round of the Hong Kong Masters and followed that with a first-round exit in the Northern Ireland Open.
Trump won the Champion of Champions in 2021, that win was his first victory during the 2021 snooker season. He later won the Turkish Masters after finishing as the runner-up at the Welsh Open.
Our pick
Neil Robertson shook the dust off at the Hong Kong Masters and then went deep at the Northern Ireland Open. I think Robertson will be dialed in and confident going into the 2022 Champion of Champions event. With Robertson being in the bracket that keeps him away from the likes of Trump, Mark Allen, Mark Selby and Higgins until the finals, I think his biggest worry will be O’Sullivan, who he could face in the semi-finals. The best bet to win the 2022 Champion of Champions snooker tournament is Neil Robertson, who has previous wins in 2015 and 2019.
Pick: Neil Robertson to win the 2022 Champion of Champions.
