If you are looking for a brief summary of what you need to know today to make informed betting choices, you’ve come to the right place! We’ll make sure you’ve got the most up-to-date map before you embark on your sports-betting voyage. (Here’s what you may have missed yesterday.)
1. Myles Garrett is back, maybe
Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns are hinting pretty heavily that #1 overall draft pick and outstandingly talented pass-rusher Myles Garrett could return in Week 5 against the Jets. The Browns have struggled without their most-hyped player, and he’s been eager to get back from his high-ankle sprain. He’s participated in practice and looks good running against air.
Betting Tip: Jets/Browns is currently an even-money game. If Garrett makes his debut, I’m taking the Browns at home against what was predicted to be the worst team in the league.
2. Michigan is favored against Michigan State, which is a nightmare
The Michigan Wolverines are a much better team than their in-state rivals, the Michigan State Spartans, and the odds reflect this. The maize and blue are favored to win by a hardy 10.5 points, which (historically) is very, very, bad for them. They lost in 2015 on a flubbed punt, lost in overtime in 2001, lost a game they dominated on the ground against Nick Saban in 1995, and lost on a seriously blown call in 1990. They were favored in all of those games, sometimes heavily. Stuff just happens in this game, for whatever reason, and it’s painful to watch and inadvisable to bet the favorite.
Betting Tip: Stay away, unless you want your heart broken (again).
