2014 US Open Odds – Matthias Bachinger vs Andy Murray, Second Round

Scottish Andy Murray left a bad taste on his first round win in the 2014 US Open, and now this Thursday, he will try to play better when he takes on German Matthias Bachinger in the second round of the last Grand Slam of the tennis season.

andy_murray_us_openScottish Andy Murray left a bad taste on his first round win in the 2014 US Open, and now this Thursday, he will try to play better when he takes on German Matthias Bachinger in the second round of the last Grand Slam of the tennis season.

Murray needed four sets to send home Robin Haase from Netherlands in the first round, but overall his game didn’t look so sharp as expected. Apparently, he had cramp issues.

“I tried to hang around and tried to play without using my legs much. I managed to get through. These slams are physically challenging, but I need to work out why it happened. It shouldn’t have happened, regardless of the temperature.”

Matthias Bachinger is listed as the 235th player in the ATP ranking but was able to upset Czech Radek Stepanek 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 as he hit seven aces, 7 winners and won 82% of his first service points.

“My preparation was not very good, but from the beginning I had a very good feeling,” Bachinger said. “I served unbelievably against Stepanek. He did not have any break points. I played really well. I served good, returned really well. It was maybe the best tennis day of my life.”

These two players have never met before, but while Murray has won Wimbledon, the US Open and an Olympic Gold medal, Bachinger has never advanced from the second round in a Grand Slam.

The US Open odds have Murray’s victory listed -1200 in the money line and Bachinger +850.
