Djokovic comes to this stage after beating Philipp Kohlschreiber in three sets (6-1, 7-5, 6-4).

“They are very similar, classical counter-punchers who can move very quickly from the baseline. Both have very good first serves. They are like chess players on the tennis court. They are masters of that, and it is maybe why they have such long marathon matches, and the quality is unbelievable,” said Boris Becker, Djokovic’s coach about the matchup.

Andy Murray beat Jo-Wilfred Tsonga (7-5, 7-5, 6-4) in the third round. It was perhaps his best performance in a long time.

“Playing at night against the number one player in the world is exciting,” said 27-year-old Murray. “If you aren’t getting motivated or pumped for those matches, then that’s when there’s a problem.”

“That’s what you put the work in for, so that when you come to these events, and you do have to play against the best players, you’re ready,” added the Scot. “And as much as it’s incredibly tough and challenging – that’s what you enjoy.”

Djokovic leads the series with 12 wins against eight losses; their most recent meeting was at the Masters 1000 Miami quarterfinals where the Djoker won 7-5, 6-3.

The US Open tennis odds have Murray +300 to pull the upset and Nole -400 as the favorite.
