UFC 166 Betting Odds – Velasquez vs Dos Santos

Junior Dos Santos looks to win the UFC Heavyweight championship title back when they take on Cain Velasquez for the third time, this Saturday at 10:30 PM ET at the Toyota Center in Houston.  The main event fight is set at 5 rounds.

The series is 1-1 with the Mexican Velasquez (12-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) winning in the last meeting.  He has landed 983 total strikes in his UFC career, the most of any active UFC heavyweight. He’s also the only fighter in UFC history to land 100 or more noteworthy strikes and 10 takedowns in the same fight.

Dos Santos (16-2 MMA, 10-1 UFC) said he was over trained the last time these two met.

“Is that what he said?,” asked Velasquez with a little smile on his face. “That’s his excuse?”

“I do five rounds in training all the time, and when it’s over, I’m ready to do two more,” he said.

“I just go out there and put the pace on that I want,” Velasquez said. “I’ve always felt like guys have gotten more tired than I have. No matter how tired I was (in the second fight), I knew that he was way more tired.”

Dos Santos has seven UFC knockout victories; that’s tied for the second most in heavyweight history.

Both fighters have enough power to end it with a pouch, but Velasquez is a better wrestler, and that could be the difference.

The UFC 166 betting odds have Cain as the favorite -230 in the moneyline, and Dos Santos +180.
