After losing badly against Netherlands 5-1, Spain is not only obligated to win, but the victory must come with authority.  The Spaniards are only facing elimination, but the -4 four goals differential puts them in an awkward position to get to the round of 16, even if they are able to beat Chile and then Australia.

Spain was one of the top four favorites to win the tournament, but they looked tired and were outplayed by a Netherlands team that was far hungrier and took advantage of every single offensive play they had.

Chile, on the other hand, is now in a position to upset one of the 2010 finalists and advance to the next round.  They beat Australia 3-1 after taking advantage of a slow start by their opponent, and in combination with the Netherland –Spain result, they are perhaps one point away from qualifying.

The Chileans met Spain in 2010 at South Africa, also in the group stage, and lost 2-1 in a close matchup; Chile looks better than four years ago and Spain appear a little wear down.+

The head to head results, however, are in clear favor of Spain, who has won four of the five games, along with a draw, and has never lost against Chile.
