Rickie Fowler’s -5 First Round
Rickie Fowler made six birdies at Bellerive, and was clearly cruising:

His opening round 65 is his third lowest score in a major championship, and exactly what he’ll need to earn his first major. He’ll also need to keep getting after the pin on the weekend, just like he did here:

Dustin Johnson on the Move
Dustin Johnson is currently putting well, which should terrify you:

The world #1 is currently at -5, which is tied with Rickie Fowler. Anyone who bet on DJ at +800 before the tournament started is feeling pretty good: Bovada now has him at +250. Should he pick up another shot before the end of this round (it certainly seems likely), he’ll become the outright leader and move to some silly number on the odds sheet. Here’s the putt that got DJ to -4:

Tiger Woods Falling
Tiger Woods put up at first round 72, which isn’t going to be enough if the course keeps playing this way. Guys are going to post low numbers, and ending day one at +1 isn’t going to cut it. While this is encouraging, finishing at +1 just isn’t enough:
A tough start for Tiger Woods.

Tiger’s now at +4000, which honestly isn’t long enough. Sportsbooks still have a huge amount of money riding on Tiger Woods, so he can’t drop that low, but he should be lower than +4000.
