- BetOnline‘s 2021 US Open Odds don’t indicate a clear favorite to win golf’s third major championship of the year
- The 121st U.S. Open will be played June 17-20 at Torrey Pines in San Diego
- Major champions Adam Scott and Bubba Watson were among the notable names to earn exemption into the tournament
Phil Mickelson’s improbable win at the 2021 PGA Championship earned him an exemption into this June’s US Open, the only major championship that the 50-year-old has yet to claim in his brilliant career.
While “Lefty” is a 33-1 longshot to capture his seventh-career major at Torrey Pines, the field does seem especially wide open this year with no participant listed with better than 14-1 chances. With the tournament just over two weeks away, let’s check out the latest odds and please also refer to our golf betting guide if you need any wagering tips or advice.

Contenders at Torrey Pines
Reigning US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau (+1400) and nemesis Brooks Koepka (+1400) are atop the board after their simmering feud lit the Internet on fire. The viral clip of Koepka showing his obvious disdain and muttering under his breath about DeChambeau, who was walking by during the shot, received millions of views and was used as a meme on social media.
The champion in both 2017 and 2018, Koepka was runner-up in 2019 before missing last year’s event due to injury. Dustin Johnson is also at +1400, despite missing the first two cuts at majors this year, as well as Jon Rahm, who won the 2017 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.

The Spaniard also has other impressive results on the course, tying for fifth in 2019, nabbing second in 2020 and tying for seventh in 2021.
“I feel like it plays exactly to my strengths,” Rahm said recently. “You’ve got to hit it long off the tee, it’s not going to roll much so you can carry it, and then the greens are very similar to what I grew up on (in Spain).”
Possible longshots
Mickelson came out of nowhere to become the oldest golfer to win a major, winning the PGA Championship at 200-1 odds. While lightning is unlikely to strike twice at the US Open, don’t be afraid to put some money on a longshot.
This year’s Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama is at +2800 and Will Zalatoris (+2800) played well at last year’s Open at Winged Foot, finishing T6 in his first major as a professional. The 24-year-old has three top-10s in four career major championship appearances after placing second at this year’s Masters and tying for 8th at the PGA Championship.

Daniel Berger (+4000) was outside the top 100 in the world less than a year ago, but he’s won twice since then and has four other top-three tournament finishes.
