Torquator Tasso
Torquator Tasso took advantage of heavy ground last year to pull of an upset win in the 2021 edition of this race. The 2020 German Horse of the Year, Torquator Tasso, will have a different jockey in 2022 as Lanfranco Dettori takes over for René Piechulek, who will race Mendocino. Dettori is the winningest jockey in this race, having six victories. He was the jockey for Enable’s wins in 2017 and 2018.
Torquator Tasso is coming off a second-place finish to Mendocino at Grosser Preis von Baden.
Luxembourg
The winner of the Irish Champion Stakes in September, Luxembourg is the favorite to win the 2022 edition of the GP de l’Arc du Triomphe. If Luxembourg lives up to his favorite status and wins the race, he will be the eighth Irish-trained horse to do so and the first since Found won in 2016. Luxembourg is trained by Aidan O’Brien, who also trained Found. He also trained 2007 winner, Dylan Thomas.
There are some concerns about how much Luxembourg has to offer heading into Sunday since he was pulled from the Epsom Classic in June with an injury.
Alpinista
Alpinista is not the favorite to win the 2022 GP de l’Arc du Triomphe, but she is running well this year. The five-year-old has wins in her last seven starts and she has been running well on soft courses.
Trained by Sir Mark Prescott, Alpinista, will look to do what no five-year-old mare has done since 1937, and that is win this race.
Alpinista has a win over Torquator Tasso in the 2021 Grosser Preis von Berlin.
Mendocino
Mendocino is a bit of a longshot, but with last year’s winning jockey on the four-year-old and a recent win over Torquator Tasso, he deserves some consideration as a value bet for the GP de l’Arc du Triomphe.
Our pick
With the way he ran last year and with an experienced and winning jockey at the helm, Torquator Tasso looks like the best bet to win the GP de l’Arc du Triomphe.
Pick: Torquator Tasso to win the 2022 GP de l’Arc du Triomphe.
