The Atlanta Braves opened the 2021 World Series with a 6-2 win over the Houston Astros. Atlanta took the home crowd out of the game in the first inning by scoring two runs. The win on Wednesday ended a five-game World Series losing skid for the Astros. At the very least, that fact should lift some weight from the team’s shoulders and provide a bit of confidence and swagger as the teams land in Atlanta for Game 3.
Houston will put Luis Garcia on the mound on Friday. Garcia has thrown 9.1 innings in the 2021 playoffs. He has surrendered eight hits, given up 10 runs, two homers, thrown 12 strikeouts and walked seven. He has a postseason ERA of 9.64. Garcia has a week of rest coming off 5 2/3 innings of work in Game 6 of the ACLS. Garcia kept the Boston Red Sox to one hit in the series ending game.
Michael Brantley has hit well for Houston in the World Series. He is 5-for-9 with two doubles.
Kyle Tucker is hitting .429 for the Astros with three hits, two runs and on double.
The Astros will look for Carlos Correa (1-7) and Alex Bregman (0-for-7) to pick up some steam.

While the Astros ended a World Series losing skid, the Braves head back to Atlanta with a loss on their record and a five game World Series home losing skid the team will look to snap on Friday. The Braves losing skid dates back to 1996.
Ian Anderson will throw for Atlanta. Anderson has put in 12 innings during the 2021 postseason. He’s given up nine hits, three runs, a single home run and four walks. Anderson has 12 strikeouts and a 2.25 ERA. Anderson does not usually do long work, he’s only gone five complete innings once in the playoffs this year, but he might have to go deeper into this game with the Braves losing Charlie Morton to a broken fibula in Game 1.
