The Chicago Cubs and the Colorado Rockies are two of the worst franchises in baseball, and I thought it could be fun to bet on this game when they meet this Wednesday at 8:40 PM ET, at Coors Field.
The Cubs will send right-handed pitcher Jake Arrieta to start the game; Arrieta hasn’t been bad over the season at all, posting a six win, two losses record in 16 games played; his ERA is at 2.11, and he will try to win Chicago’s 48 game this season.
However, in this matchup it will be fun to watch Javier Baez make his major league debut. He’s coming from Iowa and hit a two-run homer in the All-Star Futures game last month.
“He has the ability, he has the talent,” shortstop Starlin Castro said. “I think he can do the same — come here and keep playing, keep doing his job. I think it’ll be good for him.”
The Colorado Rockies will look to avoid their eighth loss in the last nine matchups. Their starting pitcher is Jordan Lyles, who is 5-1 in 12 games this season, with a 3.52 ERA.
“Good things are bound to happen,” outfielder Brandon Barnes told MLB’s official website. “We’ve had some setbacks, some injuries, but at the same time, we need to go out there and battle every single day.”
The Cubs are listed -110 to win the game and the Rockies are +100, according to the MLB betting lines.
