A great matchup at Busch Stadium will feature the Atlanta Braves facing the St. Louis Cardinals this Friday, when Ervin Santana takes the mountain against Lance Lynn at 8:15 PM ET, in the first of a three game mini-series.
Atlanta won four of their last five before falling 10-4 to the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday. They are 22-17 in the season. “I thought our offense did a nice job getting us back in it,” manager Freddie Gonzalez said. “The game just got a little out of hand there in the middle innings.”
Santana has a 4-0 record for the Braves with a 1.99 ERA; on his last outing he helped his team beat the Chicago Bulls 2-0.
“Santana was terrific — better than terrific, really, when you throw in an hour-plus rain delay,” Gonzalez added. “He did a terrific job.”
Lynn is 4-2 in the season with a 3.83 ERA; he won his first four starts, but is 0-2 in his last four outings.
“There are going to be some games where I throw the ball right down the middle three straight times and I get three straight outs,” Lynn said about the 4-3 loss against Pittsburgh. “(Saturday) it just didn’t happen when I made my pitch.”
The Atlanta Braves are -101 in the money line for this game, and the St. Louis Cardinals are -109. The run total is at 7; keep in mind three of the last four games in the series have gone UNDER the total.
