The Mariners of Seattle managed to wipe away 24 years of pain and suffering this week. On Wednesday night against the Rockies of Colorado, Seattle posted a dominant win to take home the American League West glory. Not only that, but Cal Raleigh reached 60 home-run hits on the year. With that, Cal Raleigh making history should lead to AL MVP honors.

Will it be him or New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge? We’ll find that out soon enough, but with Raleigh making history and passing Babe Ruth for the most homers by a catcher, there’s a strong feeling that the Mariners superstar will be named the American League MVP. If that doesn’t happen, a lot of people in Seattle will be upset.

The Seattle Mariners hold fantastic World Series betting odds in 2025
“When you look at how he has done it and the position that he plays — I was telling somebody earlier today that when you come off the field, you’re mentally and physically exhausted,” manager Dan Wilson said via ESPN. “And for him to do what he’s done offensively and to do what he does behind the plate, I honestly don’t think we’ve seen this before. It’s been incredible. I think he deserves the MVP, no question.”
Raleigh isn’t the only player for Seattle who is looking superb. Julio Rodriguez is a great player in center field, while Eugenio Suarez, JP Crawford and others have been solid too. Pitching wise, Luis Castillo, Logan Gilbert and others have the starting rotation in great shape with the postseason around the corner. This is only the second time since 2001 the Mariners of Seattle are going to be in the playoffs.
And this is the first year since 2001 that they’ve won the American League West. The fans at T-Mobile Park have loved what they’re seeing out of this team, but they are dreaming of Seattle getting to the World Series for the first time ever. That’s not going to be easy, as Toronto, Boston, the Yankees and others also have that goal in mind.
While everyone knows that’s the case, remember that the Seattle Mariners hold fantastic World Series betting odds in 2025. Per the MLB betting sites, Seattle has been placed at +500 to win the Fall Classic this year. This is second per the sports betting sites behind only the Phillies, who are at +420. Obviously, the Yankees and Dodgers will be teams to focus on too.
Normally, Seattle has been known for dropping the ball a bit in late September, but that’s not how things have been going for them in 2025. It will be interesting to see how things go for them in October, but with Raleigh looking like one of the top sluggers in the game, there’s potential for the Mariners to go on a deep run.
