Later this week, there’s an enticing NL West showdown on the schedule, as the Los Angeles Dodgers will look to take down the Colorado Rockies at Dodger Stadium. Later this week, plenty of baseball fans will be fired up to see how things go down, with LA hoping to make a statement. Leading up to things, the Dodgers are favored to beat the Rockies with Julio Urias pitching in this one. Will the Dodgers be able to come out on top?

A lot of people think so, as Urias is ready to record another strong showing, this time against Colorado. Urias is ready for a great display, as he’ll do so after putting on a show on Opening Day. Luckily for Urias, he has a loaded lineup behind him ready to give him plenty of run support. That’s always going to be the case when you have Mookie Betts, J.D. Martinez, Freddie Freeman and other stars ready to make plays for you on offense.

The Dodgers have started the season strong, and they’re going to be ready to keep things going the rest of the way. Of all of the National League teams out there, the Dodgers have the best World Series betting odds. The Dodgers were favorites to win the NL last season, but they blew it late in the postseason and had to watch the Fall Classic from home. They’re hoping to rewrite history next fall, however.

According to the best-rated sportsbooks, which includes the reliable Bovada review, the Dodgers hold -105 MLB betting odds to beat the Rockies. The Rockies will hope to record an upset, as they’ve been given +175 odds. Colorado will be fired up to try and get a positive result in this one, but we don’t think it will happen. We’re going with the Dodgers as our pick to record a victory in this one.

Plenty of runs should be scored in this one

It goes without saying, but plenty of runs should be scored in this one. For the Dodgers, Freeman, Betts and Co. are going to be ready to record some timely hits vs. the Rockies. For Colorado, German Marquez is going to get the start in this one. While he posted a win in his first start, he also gave up two earned runs. Urias recorded a win on Opening Day, but he also gave up two runs.

For the Rockies, their bullpen is a bit inconsistent. If Marquez is only able to go 5-6 innings in this one, then it could be tough for the Colorado relievers to keep the LA bats quiet for too long. With such a loaded lineup, and with this game being played at Dodger Stadium, the Colorado pitchers could be in for a long night. With Freeman in particular, we think he’s primed for a big showing.

As for the Rockies, they have a lot of offensive power as well, which includes star third baseman Kris Bryant. Bryant surprised a lot of people when he signed with the Rockies after his days with the Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants. He’s the face of the Rockies. He’ll also hope to remind people of how good he can be against great teams, which is exactly what he’ll be facing on vs. Los Angeles.

Per the oddsmakers, the over/under has been set at seven runs. While Urias has what it takes to keep the Colorado hitters at bay, we don’t think Marquez will be able to do the same. With so much firepower, this could be a high-scoring game by the end of the night. With the odds at -110 for the over, we think that the over would be the wise bet between the two. Expect a lot of runs in this one.

The Dodgers remain the strong favorites to win the NL

Early on in the season, the Dodgers remain the strong favorites to win the NL. It feels like it’s going to come down to either the Dodgers, Braves or Mets to book their tickets to the Fall Classic, with the Yankees and Astros as the heavy favorites in the American League to advance as well. The Dodgers have a lot of people in their corner, as plenty of futures bets have been placed on them to get back to the World Series.

The Dodgers won it all back in 2020 and the LA supporters are still fired up over things. They had great odds last year, but they let the chance to get back to the Fall Classic slip away. This is something that manager Dave Roberts hasn’t forgotten about, which is why he’s got high expectations for his team in 2023.

It’s going to be quite the challenge for them, but luckily they have one of the top start rotations in the bigs. Urias is a stud, but you can’t forget about how great Clayton Kershaw is whenever he takes the bump. If Kershaw and Urias can stay healthy throughout the season, then there’s a very good chance a return trip to the World Series can arrive for this team.
