Status of the Series
The series between the Giants and the Dodgers is tied 1-1 as the teams head to Los Angeles for the third game of the NLDS series. In the opening game, Logan Webb, who was one of San Francisco’s best pitchers in the second half of the 2021 MLB season, held the Dodgers to five hits and zero runs. Webb had 10 strikeouts in 7.2 innings pitched. He also did not walk a single hitter. The Giants won the game by a score of 4-0.
In the second game of the series, the Dodgers evened things up behind the pitching of Julio Urias, who also contributed an RBI in the Dodgers 9-2 clubbing of the Giants.

Probable Pitching
It looks like the Giants are going to send Alex Wood (10-4, 3.83 ERA) to the mound against the Dodgers Max Sherzer (15-4, 2.46 ERA).
Wood, a former Dodger, has been excellent following a loss this season. He stepped on the mound 13 times after a setback and the club has gone 12-1 in those games. Wood has faced his former club three times this year. He went 0-2 with a 4.76 ERA in those games. Wood has a 3.55 career playoff ERA over 33 innings pitched. Wood has not pitched since September 29 when he threw six shutout innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Sherzer pitched in the Dodgers Wild Card game against the Cardinals. He worked 4 1/3 innings in that game and gave up one run. Prior to that, the former Washington pitcher allowed five earned runs in each of his last two regular-season starts. Scherzer has a 3.33 career playoff ERA over 116 1/3 innings pitched. Sherzer, a three-time Cy Young winner is 11-0 with a 2.54 ERA in his last 19 regular season starts and has not lost a game since May 30.

What to Watch
This should be an interesting and tense game. The Giants are 11-1 in their past 12 away games, while the Dodgers are unbeaten in their last 16 home games.
Mookie Betts has done well against Wood this season, hitting 3-for-4, while Chris Taylor has connected for two home runs off of Wood.
Los Angeles is 12-0 with Sherzer starts on the mound this season. Sherzer has a 2.16 ERA in seven starts at Dodger Stadium this season. He is 3-1 in those games. His loss came while pitching for the Nationals.
Brandon Crawford is 7-for-17 when he faces Scherzer. The Giants shortstop has connected for three doubles and two home runs. Tommy La Stella has also done well against the Los Angeles pitcher. He’s gone 4-for-10 and hit two doubles, a triple and one home run.
Pick
Los Angeles has not lost this year with Sherzer on the mound and I don’t expect that to happen in Game 3. The Dodgers picked up Sherzer to deliver big game performances inn tough spots. He will be tested against the Giants, but he is too good and the Dodgers hitting should carry over from Game 2. Expect the Dodgers to take a 2-1 lead in the series on Monday night in Los Angeles.
