Jose Urquidy will be on the mound for Houston. He had the best season of his career in 2021, setting personal records in walks and hits per inning pitched (WHIP), innings pitched and strikeouts. In 16 of his 20 starts, he allowed three runs or fewer. Urquidy’s career playoff ERA stands at 2.81. He faced the Red Sox once in 2021. The 26-year-old pitched six innings in that game. He allowed one run and racked up nine strikeouts.
Boston will have Eduardo Rodriguez as its starting pitcher on Monday. Rodriguez did not have a good start to his post-season. He gave up two hits, two walks and two runs against the Rays in the first game of the ALDS. However, the 28-year-old had a better performance in the last game of that series. In that game, he threw five innings and gave up three hits and two runs.
In his two games against Houston in the regular season, Rodriguez allowed six runs in each game.

Players to Watch
Carlos Correa is 4-for-8 against the Red Sox in the ALCS and 9-for-21 in the playoffs. He was expected to be one of the hitters to carry Houston and he is delivering.
Jose Altuve has not been as good at the plate. He is just 1-for-8 against Boston. The good thing is that his one hit was a home run.
Yordan Alvarez had a great 2021 season. He is 2-for-6 in the ALCS for Houston.
Kiké Hernández is on fire for the Red Sox. In his past five games, he is 15-for-25 with four doubles, five homers and nine RBIs.
Rafael Devers is also performing well at the plate. He is 6-for-13 with two homers and seven RBIs in his three most recent games.

As expected, this series is coming down to who is better at the plate and right now the Red Sox are the hotter team. With their win on Saturday, Boston racked up its fifth straight game with 10 hits or more, which ties them for the longest streak of games with at least 10 hits in MLB postseason history. I don’t know if Boston will break that record on Monday, but I think the Red Sox return to Fenway and pick up a win in Game 3 of the ALCS.
