• New York Yankees vs. Cleveland Guardians in series finale
• Wednesday, April 12 at 1:10 PM ET
• Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio
This week, one of the best series for Major League Baseball fans to enjoy is no question the one between the Yankees and Guardians. These two American League powerhouses are no strangers to having some fantastic matchups against one another. Plenty of people will be making their way to the stadium, especially for the series finale on Wednesday. Believe it or not, the Guardians are favored to beat the Yankees in the series finale. Will they get the job done?
On Wednesday, Cleveland will be hoping to make an early statement going up against the Bronx Bombers. Luckily for the Guardians, they’ll have Aaron Civale on the bump. Civale has been impressive thus far this season, posting a 1-1 record with a 2.84 ERA. Civale is going to have his hands full going up against the Yankees’ lineup, but the Cleveland supporters think a strong win could be on the way.

With a win on Wednesday, Cleveland would be able to get some needed revenge against the Yankees. Last season, these two teams met in the AL Division Series, with the Yankees coming out on top. The Guardians re-tooled this offseason and now they’ll be ready to try and silence Aaron Boone and Co. There’s a good chance that they’ll be able to make it happen in the coming days as well.
According to the best-rated sportsbooks, which includes the reliable Bovada review, The Guardians are small favorites to win on Wednesday, holding their -115 MLB betting odds. Meanwhile for the Yankees, they’re set at +125. Cleveland has revenge on their minds, while the Yankees are ready for an upset in this one. While New York would normally be expected to record a win, we’re going with. Cleveland is our pick.

Plenty of runs should be scored in this Yankees vs. Guardians contest
With such high-powered offenses, plenty of runs should be scored in this Yankees vs. Guardians contest. Why, you ask? Well, while Civale could be in line for a good game against the Yankees, New York hurler Clarke Schmidt is expected to get the start in this one. Schmidt is far from the best NY starter the club features, as he’s 0-0 on the year, with a 9.45 ERA. That’s not what people were hoping to see from him.
In his last start, Schmidt lasted only 3.1 innings, giving up five runs. That was a major disappointment and there’s no doubt that Boone was not happy about that. Schmidt will hope to bounce back against the Guardians, but their lineup features a ton of talent. This could make life difficult for the NY hurler. As for Civale, he’s going to have the tall task of trying to silence the NY hitters too.

New York has one of the best offensive lineups in the game, with things of course led by Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton. Judge, the reigning AL MVP, was electric over the weekend. In a contest against the Baltimore Orioles, he blasted two homers in a single game. Yup, that’s the Judge that Yankees fans love to see. As for Stanton, we have a feeling that he’s going to start heating up here pretty soon.
Per the oddsmakers, the over/under for the series finale for the Yankees vs. Guardians has been set at seven runs. Both the over and under hold -110 odds. With Schmidt being so inconsistent this year, Cleveland alone could score 5-6 runs in this one. Civale won’t be able to keep the NY lineup quiet all night. We’re expecting plenty of runs from start to finish on Wednesday, which is why we’re going with the over.
Will Aaron Judge hit a home run vs. Cleveland on Wednesday?
Leading up to the action, people are wondering will Aaron Judge hit a home run vs. Cleveland on Wednesday? As of this writing, Judge has been a monster for the Bronx Bombers, as he’s hitting .364 with four home runs and seven RBI. Judge is coming off a 2022 season where he was nothing short of sensational, posting 62 dingers. That number set the new American League record, which was incredible to see.
To start the 2023 campaign, Judge has been on fire for the Yankees. Fans have loved seeing him get off to this start and the hope is that he’ll keep things rocking. On Wednesday afternoon, Judge will face a tall task in trying to go yard. Civale has been a stud this season and he won’t be nervous at all trying to keep Judge from blasting a dinger or two. Normally, we’d think Judge has a strong chance of hitting a homer.
However, we think that Civale will be able to win this battle several times in the series finale. Judge holds +700 odds to hit a homer and he’s a big reason why the Yankees hold +850 World Series betting odds as well. In this case, we don’t think Judge will hit a homer. If you disagree with us, feel free to get in a bet before the action starts.
