The Atlanta Braves claimed their 18th National League Pennant in 2021 with a six-game championship series win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Atlanta then went on to win their fourth World Series title and first since 1995 with another six-game series win over the Houston Astros. The Braves had a 88-73 record during the 2021 MLB regular season, which was good enough for first place in the NL East.
With the 2022 Major League Baseball All-Star break upon us, it’s time to look at where the National League teams stand at the unofficial mid-point of the MLB season.

Los Angeles Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers were one of three teams to end the 2021 MLB season with over 100 wins. Los Angeles went 106-56, the San Francisco Giants were 107-55, and the Tampa Bay Rays had a 100-62 record. The Dodgers came out hot to start the 2022 season and the team has kept up that pace and they are at the top of the National League at the All-Star break with a record of 60-30.
LA has scored an NL high 462 runs while also allowing the fewest runs in the majors at 293. The club has a National League leading run differential of +169. No other team is higher than +83.
The Dodgers have a solid pitching rotation with both Tony Gonsolin and Tyler Anderson earning 10 or more wins. As for hitting, Freddie Freeman (.321) and Trae Turner (.306) have two of the five highest batting averages in the NL.
New York Mets
The New York Mets had a losing record last year at 77-85. It looks as if the team has turned things around as they have started the 2022 MLB season incredibly fast and strong.
The Mets were not able to keep the spot they held at the top of the National League in the early part of the 2022 MLB season, but they have not slipped far. New York has a 58-35 record, which puts them 3.5 games behind the NL leading Dodgers.
The Mets have a +83 run differential at the All-Star break with 437 runs for and 354 runs against. They are second to the Dodgers in that team stat.
Carlos Carrasco has 10 wins for the Mets pitching staff, while Pete Alonso is hitting well. Alonso is third in the NL in home runs (24). and first in RBIs (78).
Atlanta Braves
The Atlanta Braves had a losing record 31 games into the season at 14-17. The team was also on the wrong side of the run differential equation, being outscored 134 runs to 126. Things have turned around for the reigning World Series champions.
Atlanta is now in third place in the NL with a 56-38 record and they are +72 in run differential. It took a bit for the team to click, but they are heading in the right direction at the All-Star break.
Kyle Wright is tied for the NL lead with 11 wins, while Austin Riley is second in the league in home runs with 27.
Atlanta is 12-5 since the start of July.
