MLB Betting – Orioles at Dodgers

Baltimore Orioles (+155) at Los Angeles Dodgers (-175, 8 o/u),

After getting swept by the Seattle Mariners, the Baltimore Orioles (47-34, 16-21 Away) have no time to dwell on their mistakes. Awaiting them is a three-game series against the powerhouse Los Angeles Dodgers (47-37, 26-15 Home), starting tonight at Dodger Stadium (9:00 PM Eastern).

The Orioles lost four in a row against the Mariners, ending a seven-game winning streak that they recorded in previous series versus the San Diego Padres and the Tampa Bay Rays. After a rough weekend, they’re now just three games ahead of the Boston Red Sox for tops in the AL East.

“I’m not glad to be done with them, no,” Baltimore manager Buck Showalter told about their recent outings against the Mariners. “They’re a good club. We’re a good club. … If we play good, we’re in good shape. If we don’t play well, it doesn’t matter who we are playing.”

In desperate need of a win, they’ll send right-hander Yovani Gallardo (3-1, 5.77 ERA) to the mound. Gallardo has made just three starts since returning from a shoulder injury, but they’ve looked better than his four starts at the season’s outset. His last outing was a victory over the Padres, going 6.0 innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out six.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers are five games back of the San Francisco Giants for the NL West lead, but they’re slowly gaining. The Dodgers have won six of the last seven, including four in a row against the Milwaukee Brewers and the Colorado Rockies.

If facing a red-hot Dodgers team wasn’t daunting enough, they’re also in possession of the most dominant lefty in the game. Lucky for the Orioles, Clayton Kershaw isn’t scheduled to start this series: unlucky for them, left-hander Julio Arias (1-2, 4.09 ERA) takes the mound tonight. The 19-year-old has yet to find his groove in the majors yet, but the Orioles are hitting just .249 against lefties this season.

This is the first meeting of the season between Baltimore and Los Angeles. While the numbers may favor the Dodgers, there’s value in taking this long ball O’s offense going up against a kid.

Pick: Orioles (+155).
