MLB Odds and Props – Astros, Cubs 2016 WS Faves

After a transaction-filled offseason, the free agent market has mostly sorted itself out. Pitchers and catchers have reported to their respective camps and Spring Training games are on the horizon. Clearly, it’s time to update the 2016 MLB season odds.

The Chicago Cubs were the undisputed winners of the offseason. Theo Epstein (President of Baseball Operations) and Jed Hoyer (General Manager) addressed glaring offensive weaknesses by signing contact hitters Jason Heyward and Ben Zobrist. Pitcher John Lackey was also inked to a two-year deal and will fill the three-spot in the Northsiders’ rotation. The kicker is that Heyward and Lackey were taken from the rival St. Louis Cardinals. The Cubbies’ additions make the lovable losers a co-favorite (with the Washington Nationals) to win the National League.

Vegas has Chicago as the overall favorite for the World Series, but that’s, in part, because they know the uber-popular Cubs will still see a lot of action at that low number.

In terms of actual chances to win the World Series, the forecast isn’t so Windy, at least not on my doppler.

Houston is my favorite to win the Fall Classic. MVP candidates Jose Altuve (2B) and Carlos Correa (SS) make up the most exciting double-play combination in the game. Meanwhile, ace Dallas Keuchel is the leading candidate to win the American League Cy Young Award. It’s looking like a fun summer for fans of the ‘Stros.

Below are the current World Series odds for all 30 teams and a breakdown of the favorites for many of this season’s individual awards.
