Dodgers, Padres and Giants

Oddsmakers are giving bettors no discount on the Dodgers (+185). Hard hit by injuries, the club lost 15 of 20 games earlier in the season but are finally getting healthy and entering a soft stretch in their schedule. While Los Angeles is still on-pace to win more than 90 games, that might not be enough to claim the NL West, which current houses the three best squads in the National League with the Padres (+425) and the Giants (+1400).

San Diego’s pitching has been incredible, but they’re hitting has been miserable outside Fernando Tatis Jr., who is among the NL leaders in home runs (18), slugging percentage (.635) and stolen bases (13). San Francisco is one of the bigger surprises in the majors, but the recent injury to Evan Longoria will be hard to overcome.

Meet the Mets

Jacob deGrom is not someone you want to face in October. Earning NL MVP buzz, the two-time Cy Young Award winner lowered his league-leading ERA to 0.56 after going six shutout innings against the Padres on Friday night. Always a threat to pitch a no-hitter, the 32-year-old also became the fastest player to fan 100 batters in a season in Major League history.

Even scarier for opposing teams that might run into the Mets (+525) this fall is that deGrom’s teammate Marcus Stroman has a a 2.41 ERA, allowing two runs or fewer in eight of his 12 starts.

Pitching wins in the postseason and Milwaukee (+850) is loaded on the mound with Corbin Burnes, Brandon Woodruff and Freddy Peralta. Despite being under .500, the Braves (+1100) still have the fifth-best odds to win the NL Pennant. Everyone on Atlanta is seemingly underperforming outside of Ronald Acuna Jr., who has a league-leading 18 homers and has reached base safely in 20 straight games.

If you’re looking for a longshot, the Philadelphia Phillies (+3300) have an ace in Zack Wheeler, who has a 1.65 ERA in his last six outings with 59 K’s against six walks in 43 2/3 innings. Now, they just need a bullpen.
