Tuesday MLB Betting: Pirates at Cardinals

The St. Louis Cardinals look to cut the three game lead the Pirates have on them as they clash this Tuesday night, in the first of a three mini game series to be play at Busch Stadium. Adam Wainwright will be on the mound for St. Louis, and Charlie Morton will be in for the Pirates.

pirates-cardinalsThe Cardinals beat the Cubs 8-4 in their last game on Sunday, but they have lost five of the last seven in the series’ against Chicago and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Closer Edward Mujica managed earned his 31st save in 33 chances and first since July 25. “All the time it’s about consistency,” Mujica said. “Sometimes days off are pretty good for pitchers. For my arm. Everybody knows we’re going to be out of this rough time.”

The Pirates arrive to this stage with three losses in a row against the Colorado Rockies, including a 3-2 loss on Sunday afternoon. “We pack it up, and we go,” Pittsburgh manager Clint Hurdle said. “You honestly self-evaluate and move on and get ready to play in St. Louis.”

The right handed Charlie Morton is 4-3 this season with his last outing coming on August 7th in the victory 4-2 against the Miami Marlins. Morton has won three of his last four games with just a defeat against the Cardinals on August 1st.

Adam Wainwright, on the other hand, is 1-7 this season but had not won since July 21st when he faced the San Diego Padres. Wainwright pitched 7 innings and allowed three runs against the Dodgers on his last assignment in a 2-3 loss for the Cardinals.
