Adam Wainwright and Jon Lester will go on a mission to win game 5 of the 2013 World Series, this Monday at 8:07 PM ET at Busch Stadium, when the Boston Rex Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals meet again in a crucial Fall classic matchup.
Game four was crazy as Jonny Gomes, who wasn’t in the original starting lineup hours before the contest, hit a three-run homer to help the Sox win it 4-2. The Fall Classic is now 2-2 and with more drama to come.
David Ortiz also was tremendous for Boston as he went 3-3 on the night, and now is 8 of 11 in the series.
“Let’s loosen up and let’s try to play baseball the way we normally do,” Ortiz said to his teammates. “I know we are a better team than what we had shown. Sometimes you get to this stage, and you try to overdo things, and it doesn’t work that way.”
Jon Lester will go on the mound for Boston in game 5; he already won game 1 with an 8-1 result, but now he has to go on the road to get a crucial win.
“I don’t know what it is. I like this stage,” said Lester. “I like knowing that I’ve got to go out there and give everything I’ve got for my teammates because tomorrow might be our last game. You don’t know. I guess that just gives you that little extra focus.”
Adam Wainwright, who looked out of focus in game 1, will get a chance to prove he’s better than what he showed in the opening game of this World Series. Wainwright is the favorite to win listed -118 in the moneyline while Lester is +108.
