• Yankee Stadium in Bronx, New York
After an exciting first few days of the Major League Baseball season, people can’t wait to see what the top teams will be able to do the rest of the way. In the Bronx, the New York Yankees looked sharp to open up the campaign vs. the San Francisco Giants, now they’re ready to take care of business against Philadelphia. Looking ahead to this Wednesday, the Yankees are favored to beat the Phillies for their April 5 showdown. Which team will come out on top?
Early on this season, the Yankees have looked strong and people are 100 percent fired up over the fact that Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton are looking like they’re in midseason form. In the first game of the year, Judge made quite the splash, blasting a huge homer in his first at-bat of 2023. Judge hit 62 home runs last season, leading to him breaking the AL record, and he also took home AL MVP honors.

Yankees to win | -110 | -110 | -110 | -110 |
Phillies to win | +150 | +150 | +150 | +150 |
Over to hit | -110 | -110 | -110 | -110 |
Under to hit | -110 | -110 | -110 | -110 |
That was amazing to see. Then on Sunday, fellow slugger Giancarlo Stanton brought fans even more joy, smashing a 485-foot dinger to deep center field at Yankee Stadium. When healthy, both Stanton and Judge are two of the best-hitting duos in the game. However, there’s no question that they’ve both dealt with a plethora of injuries over the past few seasons. That must improve in ’23.
The Phillies will hope to try and silence Judge and Stanton, but they’re not the only two to worry about. According to the best-rated sportsbooks, which includes the reliable Bovada review, the Yankees hold -110 MLB betting odds to post a win on Wednesday. The Phillies will have an upset on their minds, but we don’t think they’ll be able to pull things off. We’re going with the Yankees as our pick.

Gerrit Cole is in line for a strong outing for New York
Leading up to this matchup, Yankees fans know that Gerrit Cole is in line for a strong outing for New York. Last week, Cole made his season debut and he looked nothing short of sensational against the Giants. San Francisco has a fantastic lineup, but that didn’t scare the ace hurler in the slightest, as he went six strong innings. In that win for the Yankees, Cole didn’t allow a single run and he only gave up three hits.
It was the exact kind of showing he needed to set the tone for the year. Ever since the Yankees gave him his monster contract, fans have been all over the hard-throwing righty due to inconsistent play at times. However, there’s no question that when Cole is at his best, he’s a superstar in this league. After his amazing performance vs. the Giants, he’ll be ready for more of the same vs. the Phillies.

“I’m just conscious of how the opposition is perceiving what I’m trying to do out there, not trying to give them any sort of advantage,” Cole said in a recent interview with the New York Post. “It’s about putting yourself in a good place to execute pitches and then not give anything away, not showing that you’re ever disappointed with a pitch.”
Cole is a beast, and he’s going to make life tough for the Phillies. Meanwhile for Philadelphia, stud pitcher Aaron Nola is slated to get the start in this one. With the over/under set at seven runs, we think that both Nola and Cole will keep this a low-scoring game. Despite both lineups featuring plenty of power, it’s going to be tough for a lot of runs to be scored. Because of this, we’re taking the -110 odds for the under.
Yankees Fall Classic bets continue to roll in
Despite the new campaign just getting started, we’ve seen Yankees Fall Classic bets continue to roll in. New York has high expectations and things are only going to get better for them soon once they’re at full health. People can’t wait to see Carlos Rodon make his season debut, but it’s still a few weeks away. He’s been dealing with an arm injury since the end of spring training.
For now, Cole will have to lead the way for the rotation, but there’s no doubt in people’s minds that he’ll be able to keep things going strong. In the American League, the Yankees and Astros hold the best odds to win the World Series. The Yankees have been in quite the drought, but their fans are hoping that this year will be the one where they’re able to get things across the line. That won’t be easy, though.
However, if the Yankees can keep playing strong, then they should be able to not only push for the AL East title, but also go on a deep postseason run as well. The Yankees hold +850 World Series betting odds, and a lot of NY supporters love those odds. Keep an eye on this team for the rest of the season.
