The Atlanta Braves won the 2021 World Series with a 7-0 victory over the Houston Astros on November 2, 2021. Atlanta finished the series in Game 6 in Houston. The win was the first Major League Baseball title for the Braves since 1995.
Despite the team’s World Series win, the Braves were not the favorite to win the National League or the World Series in 2022 when the 2022 World Series odds were released in the aftermath of their Fall Classic victory. No, the Los Angeles Dodgers, who the Braves defeated in a six-game series in the 2021 NLCS, were the favorite in those categories.
Not much has changed since those early odds, other than the Dodgers becoming more of a favorite to win the 2022 World Series and the Braves have become more of a longshot to claim back-to-back MLB title.

2022 World Series Futures Picks
Los Angeles Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers were one of three teams to end the 2021 MLB season with over 100 wins. Los Angeles went 106-56 last season. The other two teams to top 100 victories were the San Francisco Giants, who were 107-55 and the Tampa Bay Rays at 100-62. The Dodgers came out hot to start the 2022 season. As of this writing, Los Angeles has the second best winning percentage in baseball at .647. The team has scored the most runs in the National League at 179, and allowed the fewest runs against at 108.
Los Angeles has one of the best starting rotations in MLB this season and that bodes well for the club.
If the team can continue playing as it has, it’s going to be a long season for the other National League squads.
New York Yankees
The New York Yankees began the season with a 5-5 run. However, the team quickly found its footing after that. As of this writing, the Yankees have the best record in baseball at 26-9. New York also has the highest winning percentage in the league at .743.
New York has scored 173 runs and allowed an MLB low of 100. The club’s +73 run differential is the best in the league.
The Yankees have three of the top five league leaders in home runs with Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Anthony Rizzo. As far as their pitching, it has been solid as well, with Nestor Cortes leading the way with a 1.35 ERA.
The Yankees have not won a World Series or AL Pennant since 2009. 2022 could be the year New York ends that drought.
New York Mets
The New York Mets had a losing record last year at 77-85. It looks as if the team has turned things around. They started the 2022 MLB season incredibly fast and strong.
The Mets have one of the best records in the National League right now at 23-13. New York has scored 160 runs against 125 allowed runs. That gives the team one of the highest run differentials in the National League.
Buck Showalter signed on as the Mets manager over the winter, and the veteran looks like he might be the answer the club has been looking for. Also, the team’s big investment in Max Scherzer looks like it is going to pay off. The team gave the ace pitcher a three-year $130 million deal in December. He struck out 10 in seven innings in his debut with the team and is currently among the NL leaders in strikeouts.
Our pick
Right now the New York Yankees look great. Yes, they started the 2022 MLB season incredibly hot and could fade as the season progresses, but right now, the New York Yankees look like they will end their World Series drought in 2022.
Pick: New York Yankees to win the 2022 World Series.
