NLCS Game 3: Dodgers vs. Braves Betting Odds & Picks

  • Date & Location: Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, Calif.
  • Odds: Los Angeles Dodgers (-171) vs. Atlanta Braves (+158) via Sportsbetting.
  • Prediction: Dodgers to win Game 3 of NLCS

The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Atlanta Braves opened their best of seven National. League Championship Series at Truist Park in Atlanta on Saturday, October 16. The Braves won that game at home 3-2.

Atlanta followed that on Sunday with a second victory at the team’s home park, downing the Dodgers 5-4.

On Tuesday, the Dodgers get a chance to play in front of their home crowd as the series moves to Los Angeles for the next three games, which the Dodgers surely hope will all be necessary.

Pitching

Charlie Morton will take the mound for the Braves. The last time Morton pitched in Los Angeles was in 2017 when he was with the Houston Astros. The game went well for Morton and his team as he threw four innings in relief in the World Series-clinching Game 7. Morton was 14-6 with a 3.34 ERA during the 2021 season. Morton has pitched two games in the postseason in 2021. He has surrendered seven hits in 9.1 innings pitched, earned 14 strikeouts, and put up a 3.86 ERA.

The Dodgers will have Walker Buehler pitching in Game 3. Buehler had a 16-4 regular season with a 2.47 ERA. The 27-year-old had a good NLCS against Atlanta last year when he gave up one run in 11 innings. Buehler has thrown two games in the 2021 playoffs. In 10.2 innings pitched, he has given up nine hits, earned nine strikeouts. His postseason ERA is 3.38.

Players to Watch

Eddie Rosario is hitting well for the Braves. His batting average is .409 (9-for-22) in the NL playoffs. He had a great Game 2 in Atlanta, hitting  4-for-4, which included the game-winning walk-off hit.

Joc Pederson, who played for the Dodgers in his first six MLB seasons, is 5-for-14 (.357). He’s hit three homers and has seven RBIs in this year’s playoffs.

Chris Taylor is the one Los Angeles player who is doing well at the plate. He is 6-for-21 (.286) with a homer and six RBIs in the playoffs. The Dodgers need another bat to get hot in this series.

Pick

The Braves are on a five-game winning streak in the playoffs, but they have not been dominant wins. One run decided each of those games. That’s the good news for the Braves. The bad news is the team has not fared well in Los Angeles. Atlanta is 0-9 at Dodger Stadium dating back to June 2018, and their record in their past 24 trips to Los Angeles is a dismal 4-20.

I think the Braves will get at least one win while the series is in Los Angeles, but I don’t think it will come in Game 3. I predict another tight game, but I believe the Dodgers will win on Tuesday.

Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers to beat Atlanta Braves in Game 3 of NLCS at -171 via Sportsbetting.
